Job summary

Independent Software seeks a DevOps Software Engineer Level 3 to support development, deployment, and administration of mission-critical systems for satellite communications. The role blends software engineering, DevOps, Kubernetes, Linux, and infrastructure automation to meet user requirements.

You will work with cross-functional teams using C++ or Python, Kubernetes, GPU technologies, and modern DevOps practices while helping ensure systems meet operational needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline with 20 years of software engineering experience, or 24 years substitute.
• Deep experience in software engineering and DevOps practices.
• Advanced Linux administration and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with Kubernetes and containerized applications.
• CI/CD, GitOps workflows, and automation experience.
• Ansible or similar automation technologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop, deploy, and sustain mission-critical software and infrastructure solutions.
• Develop software and automation using C++ and/or Python.
• Design, deploy, configure, and troubleshoot Kubernetes environments.
• Support containerized applications, cluster networking, storage, monitoring, and security.
• Automate system configuration and deployment using Ansible, Bash, Python, and Git-based workflows.
• Configure, troubleshoot, and secure Linux environments (RHEL/ Rocky).
• Support CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
• Troubleshoot networking, software, infrastructure, and deployment issues.
• Collaborate with customers and engineering teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
• Support GPU technologies and satellite/RF-related applications.

What You Will Do
At Independent Software, as a DevOps Software Engineer Level 3, you will support the development, deployment, and administration of complex mission-critical systems. This highly customer-facing role combines software engineering, DevOps, Kubernetes, Linux, and infrastructure automation in support of satellite communications systems.You will work with cross-functional teams to develop and deploy solutions using C++ or Python, Kubernetes, GPU technologies, and modern DevOps practices while helping ensure systems meet operational and user requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, deploy, and sustain mission-critical software and infrastructure solutions
• Develop software and automation using C++ and/or Python
• Design, deploy, configure, and troubleshoot Kubernetes environments
• Support containerized applications, cluster networking, storage, monitoring, and security
• Automate system configuration and deployment using Ansible, Bash, Python, and Git-based workflows
• Configure, troubleshoot, and secure Linux environments, including RHEL and Rocky Linux

• Experience with Kubernetes and containerized applications

• Experience with Ansible and/or similar automation technologies
• Strong troubleshooting and customer-facing communication skills

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline plus twenty (20) years of relevant Software Engineering experience;

OR Twenty-four (24) years of relevant Software Engineering experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree.

Clearance Requirement:

Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role
