General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a Systems Engineer (DevOps) to support on-site operations in a highly secure environment. The role focuses on deploying and operating motion imagery software, with emphasis on Kubernetes-based infrastructure, DevSecOps practices, and container orchestration.

Requires 5+ years in DevOps, strong scripting, Linux experience, and hands-on knowledge of Git, Kubernetes, and container registries.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent 4 years of experience, or Master's with 3+ years related experience.
• 5+ years of DevOps engineering experience.
• Experience applying DevSecOps principles, including configuration management and CI/CD.
• Experience building, securing, and operating containers in a dynamic environment.
• Experience with Kubernetes clusters, Helm, and container networking.

Responsibilities

• Provide DevOps expertise across the lifecycle, including scripting in Bash/Python/Java/C# as needed.
• Develop and/or manage automation tools and build/packaging workflows (e.g., Gradle, Maven).
• Operate in a Kubernetes-based environment and manage containerized workloads.
• Ensure security and configuration management across systems and deployments.

Job Description:

Ensure the safety and security of our nation as a Systems Engineer (DevOps) at GDIT.

Our work depends on the Systems Engineer (DevOps) joining our team to support the deployment of systems and capabilities centered on our comprehensive motion imagery software suite. The DevOps Engineer will support operations of a non-internet accessible on-prem hybrid environment built primarily on Kubernetes.

HOW A DEVOPS ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

• The candidate will be expected to provide an array of skills within DevOps discipline.


• Development and/or scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python, Java, C#, etc)


• Linux OS experience


• Systems engineering experience


• Source code management tools (Git, etc) and artifact repositories (Nexus/Atifactory, container registries, etc)


• Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, Rundeck, etc


• Experience with build/packaging tools such as Gradle, Maven Poetry, etc

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

• The position requires an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance


• Bachelor’s or Technology degree in Engineering or a related specialized area/field, OR equivalent four (4) years job-related experience OR Master's degree with three (3+) years of job-related experience.


• The position requires five (5+) years of related DevOps engineering experience


• Demonstrated experience employing DevSecOps principles, including strict configuration management, configuration-as-code, and continuous delivery


• Demonstrated experience in building, securing, and operating containers in a dynamic environment


• Experience working in a Kubernetes-based environment, including: 1) A basic understanding of how Kubernetes works 2) Experience using and/or administering Kubernetes clusters 3) Experience building and deploying workloads using Helm


• Knowledge of container and Linux host networking


• Experience with Apache Kafka


• Experience with Elastic stack


• Excellent organizational, coordination, interpersonal and team building skills


• Proven problem-solving skills in complex environments


• The position is on customer site

The likely salary range for this position is $153,000 - $207,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
