Job summary

AeroVironment, based in Chantilly, VA, seeks a DevOps Software Engineer to join a national security-focused project. You will develop and maintain custom applications and scripts across multiple platforms, collaborating with internal teams, the program manager, and customer teams.

Strong communication and Agile experience are essential. The role involves implementing improvements, maintaining architecture, and coordinating with mission partners and vendors as needed.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with polygraph clearance.
• Demonstrated custom development experience on Linux-based servers and appliances.
• 3+ years of experience using Rust and/or Python to develop applications/services.
• Experience with Rust strongly preferred; quick learner of new languages acceptable.
• Automations using Ansible.
• Custom apps using Docker containers.
• Maintaining custom application code bases.
• Strong written/verbal communication, problem solving, organization and collaboration skills.
• Team player and individual contributor; familiar with agile development.

Responsibilities

• Develop and/or modify custom applications and scripts across multiple platforms.
• Maintain custom software applications and services.
• Recommend and implement improvements to existing software solutions; maintain system architecture for versatility and consistency across platforms.
• Provide input to software configuration, system documentation, capabilities improvements, build roadmaps, and updates to software.
• Attend meetings and reviews.
• Communicate with internal team members across multiple areas, the program manager, and customer team members.
• Communicate with external parties such as mission partners and vendors as required.
