DevOps Engineer SR

Overview:

As a Senior DevOps Engineer at Sagent, you’ll play a key role in supporting and evolving our DevOps practices across Azure and, over time, Google Cloud Platforms (GCP). You’ll work hands-on to deploy infrastructure, automated processes, and support critical workloads – including a specialized focus on Sterling File Gateway (SFG), where you’ll collaborate closely with IT to ensure ongoing reliability and performance for secure file transfer systems. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys digging into complex systems, improving operational efficiency, and working across engineering and IT teams to support secure, high-volume data delivery at scale.

Your day-to-day at Sagent:

DevOps Operations & Infrastructure Support:
  • Deploy and maintain infrastructure in Azure using Kubernetes and Terraform to support reliable and scalable environments.
  • Manage AKS clusters and workloads, troubleshoot issues, and support configuration and performance tuning.
  • Support and maintain Sterling File Gateway (SFG), partnering closely with the IT team during the transition to in-house management.
  • Assist with file transmission workflows to support internal and external data exchange needs.
Automation & Tooling:
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions with Terraform for consistent, repeatable deployments.
  • Develop scripts and tools to automate manual tasks, improve deployment pipelines, and streamline infrastructure operations.
  • Implement and refine CI/CD pipelines to support fast, stable software delivery.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work with Engineering, Product, IT, and Security teams to support application delivery and infrastructure planning.
  • Collaborate with IT to ensure successful onboarding and long-term support of Sterling File Gateway and related systems.
  • Offer technical input during design discussions based on operational insights and hands-on expertise.
Monitoring & Optimization:
  • Participate in incident response and root cause analysis tor maintain system performance and availability.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to enhance resilience and deployment speed.
  • Integrate cloud monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Dynatrace, Grafana) into infrastructure and application environments.

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or relevant discipline with 4 - 6 years of experience in a related field. Experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, or platform operations.
  • Experience working with or supporting Sterling File Gateway (SFG), or similar file transfer solutions.
  • Proficiency with Kubernetes in Azure environments (AKS), including workload management and troubleshooting.
  • Strong experience with Terraform and scripting in Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment tooling.
  • Comfortable operating independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to document processes and share knowledge effectively.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with GCP services and cloud-native tooling.
  • Preferred: Experience with ConnectDirect or other IBM-based file transfer systems.
