Job summary

Span is seeking a DevOps Engineer to design, scale, and maintain the infrastructure powering our platform. You will partner with the engineering team to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable systems, while automating deployments and strengthening CI/CD pipelines.

You will automate infrastructure as code, improve observability, and collaborate across teams to reduce friction for developers building and shipping high-quality software.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, Platform Engineering, or a similar infrastructure-focused role.
• Strong experience managing cloud infrastructure, ideally AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, Go, or similar languages.
• Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and observability solutions.
• Strong understanding of networking, Linux systems, cloud security, and infrastructure best practices.
• Experience troubleshooting production systems and improving reliability.
• A proactive, ownership-driven mindset with the ability to operate independently in a fast-moving environment.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to solving technical challenges.

Responsibilities

• Own and scale our infrastructure: Design, build, and maintain reliable, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure to support our growing platform.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines: Build and optimize automated build, testing, and deployment workflows to help engineers ship quickly and confidently.
• Automate everything: Identify opportunities to eliminate manual processes through infrastructure as code, scripting, and automation.
• Strengthen reliability and observability: Implement and improve monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident response processes to ensure system health and availability.
• Optimize performance and costs: Monitor infrastructure utilization, identify inefficiencies, and improve performance while managing cloud costs.
• Build secure systems: Partner with engineering and security stakeholders to implement infrastructure security best practices, access controls, and compliance requirements.
• Enable developer productivity: Create tools, processes, and infrastructure that reduce friction and improve the developer experience.
• Support production operations: Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, investigate incidents, and implement long-term improvements.
• Collaborate across engineering: Work closely with software engineers to support new features, architectural decisions, and evolving infrastructure needs.
