About the Role

This opportunity is for a Cloud DevOps Engineer / Site Reliability Engineer responsible for designing, automating, and managing the software release lifecycle across a multi-tenant, HIPAA-regulated cloud platform. The position focuses on building reliable CI/CD pipelines, coordinating deployments across UAT, pre-production, and production environments, and improving release automation to support consistent software delivery with minimal customer disruption.

The role combines Azure DevOps pipeline engineering, AWS cloud operations, SQL Server database deployments, Terraform infrastructure changes, and application observability. Responsibilities include replacing manual release processes with automated deployment workflows, implementing validation and rollback controls, and coordinating release readiness with development, security, infrastructure, and vendor teams. The position reports to an Engineering Manager and works closely with senior engineers and technical leadership.

What You'll Do
Deployment & Release Engineering
  • Manage the complete software deployment lifecycle across UAT, pre-production, and production environments, coordinating release readiness and obtaining final approval from engineering leadership.
  • Design, build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps to automate application delivery and deployments to AWS environments.
  • Implement deployment strategies, including rolling releases, to reduce service interruptions and minimize customer impact.
  • Coordinate Microsoft SQL Server database deployments, ensuring consistent schema migrations and data changes across multiple customer databases within a multi-tenant architecture.
  • Work with development teams and cross-functional stakeholders to identify release requirements, resolve deployment dependencies, and improve the path from code commit to production.
  • Monitor API performance and application observability through AWS CloudWatch and SigNoz dashboards, identifying operational issues and routing incidents to the appropriate development teams.
  • Transform manual and legacy deployment procedures into automated, gated CI/CD workflows with rollback capabilities, pre-deployment checks, and post-deployment validation.
  • Improve release reliability and repeatability through automation, standardized deployment practices, and continuous pipeline optimization.
Platform & Reliability Engineering
  • Make targeted infrastructure changes using Terraform Infrastructure as Code to support application deployment and release workflows.
  • Contribute to service-level indicator (SLI) and service-level objective (SLO) definitions to improve platform reliability and operational visibility.
  • Participate in post-incident reviews and root-cause analysis to identify production issues and opportunities for reliability improvements.
  • Coordinate with security and infrastructure specialists on cloud resource provisioning and infrastructure modifications required for application deployments.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with software engineering teams on release planning, deployment readiness, production rollouts, and post-release verification.
  • Coordinate with security teams on change management, access controls, secrets management, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Work with internal IT and infrastructure teams on AWS resource provisioning, networking requirements, and cloud platform dependencies.
  • Collaborate with offshore vendor partners to manage deployment handoffs, release windows, and shared troubleshooting activities across time zones.
  • Coordinate deployment schedules with Data and Analytics teams to prevent conflicts with ETL jobs, existing data pipelines, and scheduled processing activities.
Documentation
  • Create and maintain technical runbooks, deployment checklists, release procedures, and operational documentation to ensure consistent, repeatable processes and accessible release knowledge.
Qualifications
Required Experience
  • 3–5 years of hands-on professional experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering.
  • Practical experience designing, building, maintaining, and improving CI/CD pipelines for automated software delivery, with Azure DevOps experience considered a strong advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience converting manual or legacy deployment processes into automated CI/CD workflows spanning development, UAT, pre-production, and production environments.
  • Experience supporting application deployments and release management across cloud-based infrastructure and multiple environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code, with Terraform preferred.
Required Skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS), including cloud compute, networking, Identity and Access Management (IAM), storage, and monitoring services.
  • Ability to build and maintain CI/CD automation, manage software releases, troubleshoot deployment failures, and improve release reliability.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language: PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a .NET Core application environment and troubleshoot issues involving application deployments and supporting infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, including schema migrations, data migrations, and consistent propagation of database changes across multiple customer databases.
  • Practical understanding of Infrastructure as Code principles and the ability to implement targeted cloud infrastructure modifications using tools such as Terraform.
  • Strong analytical and technical troubleshooting capabilities across applications, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Ability to coordinate software releases, deployment dependencies, technical approvals, and issue resolution across engineering, product, security, infrastructure, and vendor teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong ownership of deployment processes and release outcomes, with the ability to take direct responsibility for troubleshooting and resolving operational issues.
  • Comfort working during occasional scheduled off-hours deployment windows when required to support application releases.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting software infrastructure or release processes in regulated environments, including HIPAA, HITRUST, or SOC 2.
  • AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator.
  • Experience using application monitoring and observability platforms such as SigNoz, Grafana, Datadog, or New Relic.
  • Exposure to containerized application environments and technologies, including Docker, Amazon ECS, or Amazon EKS.
  • Working knowledge of Linux administration and command-line tools.
  • Familiarity with AWS Bedrock or AI and large language model (LLM) integration patterns.
