Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a DevOps Engineer (Level 3 or 4) in Linthicum, MD to join our Space Systems Sector. You will manage CI/CD pipelines, automate deployments, and support containerized applications on Linux. Strong Java, Kubernetes, and scripting skills required; TS clearance and U.S. citizenship are prerequisites.

Roles can be filled at Level 3 or Level 4 depending on experience; travel up to 10% may be required, and relocation assistance may be available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience; Master’s with 3+; PhD with 1+; additional 4 years in lieu of a degree.
• Level 4 requires 8+ years with bachelor’s, 6+ with master’s, or 4+ with PhD; 4 years in lieu of degree allowed.
• Must obtain and maintain a US Government TS clearance with Full Scope Polygraph; US Citizenship required
• Strong experience building and running containers

Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems Sector is looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer Level 3 or 4 to augment our team in Linthicum, MD.

DevOps Engineers must have an excellent understanding of common system architecture, provisioning, and administration, but also have experience with the traditional developer toolset and practices such as using source control, giving and receiving code reviews, writing unit tests, and familiarity with agile principles. Successful candidates will support daily tasks by managing the CI/CD pipelines, automating deployments, monitoring system health, handling infrastructure as code.

This position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company.

This position can be filled at either a Level 3 (Principal) or Level 4 (Sr Principal).

Basic Qualifications

• Principal DevOps Engineer Level 3: Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience; Master’s degree in a STEM discipline with 3+ years of relevant experience; OR PhD with 1+ years of experience; An additional 4 years of experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Sr Principal DevOps Engineer Level 4: Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 8+ years of relevant experience; Master’s degree in a STEM discipline with 6+ years of relevant experience; OR PhD with 4+ years of experience; An additional 4 years of experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance with a Full Scope Polygraph. No Clearance required to start, US Citizenship required
• Strong experience building and running containers
• Strong experience with Linux Administration
• Strong experience with shell scripting
• Experience with git
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines (gitlab or Jenkins experience is preferred)
• Experience working with Kubernetes
• Experience with messaging software (kafka, artemis, etc.)
• Must have an established understanding of the java programming language (Required for support of design, implementation, testing, code reviews, etc.)
• Must have a good understanding of Git (Required for support of releases, patching, pipeline, developer support, etc.)
• Must have a good understanding of Kubernetes/Helm (required for support of deployments, environment support, and IT&D integration, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

• Active Top Secret/SCI with Full Scope poly
• Experience with Ansible
• Experience with Java, Python
• Experience with system monitoring (E.g. Prometheus or similar)
• Familiarity with computer networking
• Familiarity with access control techniques (RBAC, ABAC, etc.) and software (keycloak)
• Preferred to have experience in maintaining user-facing tools in a cloud environment

Primary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 - $163,200.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $135,800.00 - $203,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
