Job summary

Real Chemistry is hiring a DevOps Engineer for AWS and GitHub, overseeing infrastructure from prototype to production. You’ll build reference architectures, CI/CD pipelines, and IaC with Terraform, while ensuring security and cost governance.

Hybrid US role with multiple office options or remote work within the US. Ideal candidates have 3+ years in AWS, Terraform expertise, and experience with GitHub Actions, IAM, and on-call incident management.

Qualifications

• 3+ years operating production workloads in AWS environments.
• Experience with Terraform for IaC lifecycle, state management, modules.
• Experience designing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
• Working knowledge of AWS IAM and least-privilege access design.
• OIDC federation between GitHub and AWS.
• Experience supporting SLAs, incident response, and on-call operations.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain AWS reference architectures (ECS/Fargate, EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3).
• Develop and operate GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines with staged deployments and environment protection.
• Manage infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) incl. remote state backends and modules.
• Define lift patterns to move apps from prototype to production in AWS.
• Provision and manage AWS infra and design HA/DR for production systems.
• Operate observability stack (metrics, logs, traces, alerting).
• Apply cost governance: tagging strategies and cost monitoring.
• Collaborate with Security on pipeline controls (image scanning, secrets management).
• Provide onboarding support and participate in on-call rotation.
• Maintain runbooks and incident response playbooks.
