Job summary

Leidos is seeking a DevOps/Platform engineer for an on-site program in Washington, DC with early-stage telework options. You will build automated CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Artifactory, Kubernetes/OpenShift, Docker, Ansible, and Bitbucket, and help deploy/apply changes to Kafka and Elastic stacks in an AWS cloud.

You will configure DoD-compliant environments, create dashboards for monitoring and cost, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile setting to deliver reliable

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline; 8–12 years of prior experience or Master's with 6–10 years of experience.

• Willingness to complete and maintain customer screenings.
• Current Security+ or higher/equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Develop automated CI/CD build/deploy pipelines using Jenkins, Artifactory, Kubernetes/OpenShift, Docker, Ansible and Bitbucket.
• Assist with deployment, configuration, testing, and maintenance of Kafka and Elastic clusters in AWS.
• Configure apps to integrate network data into Elastic (ELK) stack in AWS cloud.
• Meet DoD STIGs and security standards in configurations.
• Develop centralized dashboards and observability for health, performance, security, and cloud spend.
• Implement proactive monitoring, alerts, and automation to improve reliability.
• Cost optimization through right-sizing and FinOps practices.
• Manage certificate lifecycle operations to ensure secure service delivery.
• Collaborate with DevOps/Sec/Cloud/Apps teams to embed security in CI/CD.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop automated CI/CD build/deployment pipelines using Jenkins (CloudBees), Artifactory, Kubernetes (OpenShift), Docker, Ansible and Bitbucket.
• Assist with the deployment, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, updates/upgrades of Kafka and Elastic clusters and environments.
• Configure applications to integrate network data into an Elastic (ELK) stack hosted in an AWS cloud environment.
• Configure applications in accordance to meet DoD security standards, including DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
• Develop, and maintain centralized dashboards and observability solutions to monitor application health, performance, availability, security posture, infrastructure utilization, and cloud spend across environments.
• Implement proactive monitoring, alerting, and automation using metrics, logs, traces to improve incident detection, operational visibility, root cause analysis, and system reliability.
• Implement cloud and infrastructure cost optimizations through resource utilization analysis, rightsizing, idle resource identification, storage and compute optimization, and FinOps best practices.
• Manage enterprise certificate lifecycle operations, including certificate provisioning, renewal, rotation, expiration monitoring, and automation to ensure secure and uninterrupted service delivery.
• Collaborate with DevOps, Security, Cloud, and Application Engineering teams to integrate security controls, compliance monitoring, automation, and operational standards into CI/CD pipelines and production environments.
• Work with an Agile team, attend daily scrums and demonstrate working software while collaborating with a geographically distributed (remote) team.
• Frequently communicate and collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to ensure successful completion of project objectives.
• Develop automated tests using Ansible, Selenium, JMeter, JUnit and/or other applicable tools.
• Troubleshoot and resolve installation, infrastructure and system issues.
• Proactively and independently identify, report, monitor and mitigate technical risks.

Basic Qu alifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline, plus 8 - 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 - 10 years of prior relevant experience.

• Willingness to complete and maintain additional customer suitability screenings throughout employment
• Current Security+ certification or higher/equivalent
• Experience developing software in an Agile environment, including the ability to quickly learn new technologies on a rapidly growing project.
• Ability to multi-task, self-assign work, and work in a geographically distributed team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Experience with distributed version control software such as Git and Bitbucket.
• Experience developing software on a Linux platform.
• Knowledge of and ability to apply principles, theories, and concepts of Software Engineering.
• Strong communication skills that enable proactive and effective collaboration with a virtual team, including the ability to clearly articulate status and present to both customers and program leadership.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and attention to detail, including excellent organizational and documentation skills.
• Ability to obtain an interim DoD Secret security clearance prior to start date.
• Ability to obtain a security certification that meets DOD 8570 IAT level II or higher, such as Security+ CE or CISSP, within 60 days of start date.

Preferred Qualifications

• Full software lifecycle experience (design, development, test, deployment), including deployment to a production environment.
• Experience developing software in an Agile environment, including the ability to quickly learn new technologies on a rapidly growing project.
• Software development experience with Python and Java and SQL, including integration experience with JSON/REST web services, as well as the parsing, generation and validation of JSON. Working knowledge of JavaScript.
