Job summary

Platform9 Systems is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our R&D team, offering remote-first work from India. You will help build, maintain, and support the software engine powering our public SaaS platform, improving developer velocity and build times.

Ideal candidates have strong CI/CD experience, Terraform IaC, Linux, Python, and Bash, and are comfortable operating in a fast-paced, agile environment with US Eastern on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or build engineering roles.
• Hands-on Terraform and infrastructure-as-code experience.
• Strong experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, TeamCity).
• Operational experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud).
• Proficiency in Linux, Python, and shell scripting.
• Performance-focused mindset to optimize build times and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and operate the software engine powering our public SaaS infrastructure.
• Design and manage infrastructure using Terraform and IaC best practices.
• Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines for fast, safe software delivery.
• Monitor and troubleshoot AWS/Linux infrastructure and services.
• Write automation scripts in Python and Bash.
• Collaborate with product engineering, support, and customer teams to improve reliability.
• Participate in on-call rotations during US Eastern hours.
• Contribute to planning, retrospectives, and continuous delivery in an agile workflow.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and runbooks.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled DevOps Engineer to join our R&D organization. In this role, you will help build, maintain, and support the software engine powers our public SaaS platform, accelerating developer velocity, improving build times and delivering higher quality with each new release.

You will be part of a globally distributed team responsible for delivering reliable, automated, and scalable build infrastructure and tooling. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in CI/CD, build engineering, test platform integrations, Jenkins or similar tools, Linux, Python, and Bash and is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build, maintain, and operate our software engine that powers our public SaaS infrastructure, accelerating developer velocity, improving build times and
• Design and manage infrastructure using Terraform and infrastructure-as-code best practices
• Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, safe, and consistent software delivery
• Monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure and service issues in AWS and Linux environments
• Write automation scripts and tooling in Python and Bash
• Collaborate with product engineering, support, and customer teams to resolve technical issues and improve system reliability
• Participate in an on-call rotation during US Eastern timezone hours
• Operate within an agile/scrum workflow, contributing to planning, retrospectives, and continuous delivery
• Create and maintain technical documentation and runbooks for operational processes.

Required Qualifications:

• 3-6 years of experience in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering or Build Engineering roles
• Hands-on experience with Terraform, infrastructure as code, and managing cloud-native environments
• Strong experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Teamcity)
• Solid understanding and operational experience with a major cloud platform such as AWS or Oracle Cloud or Google Cloud or Azure
• Proficiency with Linux, system administration, Python and shell scripting
• A performance oriented mindset, with a strong desire to optimize build times, improve build reliability, and be relentlessly driven to make the software engine work faster and better.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, agile development environment
• Ability to work independently and proactively during US Eastern timezone hours

Nice to Have:

• Understanding of spec driven development using either Github spec-kit, or claude superpowers
• Understanding of decomposing long and complex builds into a more modular and component build process
• Experience with Golang
• Exposure to OpenStack environments
• Knowledge of cloud security and best practices for SaaS platforms
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog
