Job summary

Smarty is an independent, bootstrapped SaaS company based in Orem, Utah. We seek a DevOps Engineer to grow hands-on with production infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and security practices at scale.

You will work with a curious team to build automation, monitor performance, and collaborate across engineering and operations to deliver reliable software and fast deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in CS/IT/related field.
• 1–3 years in DevOps, SysAdmin, or infrastructure roles.
• Comfortable with Linux environments.
• Familiar with Git and version control practices.
• Some exposure to CI/CD and containerization.
• Scripting experience with Bash or Python.
• Experience with cloud orchestration (Nomad, Kubernetes, etc.).
• Experience with monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana).
• Calm, solutions‑oriented, and eager to learn.

Responsibilities

• Support the maintenance and reliability of CI/CD pipelines and production infrastructure.
• Monitor system performance and respond to alerts.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure and deployment issues with senior engineers.
• Build automation scripts to reduce manual work and speed deployments.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to streamline delivery.
• Help maintain security best practices across infrastructure.
• Support configuration management and version control workflows.
• Learn new tools and technologies as infrastructure evolves.
• Leverage AI as a tool for troubleshooting, scripting, and day‑to‑day tasks.

This is a full-time, onsite position based at our Orem, UT office.

What you'll do:

Who you are:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or similar field (or equivalent practical experience)
• 1 to 3 years of experience in DevOps, SysAdmin, or infrastructure-related work
• Comfortable working in a Linux environment
• Familiar with Git and version control practices
• Some exposure to CI/CD tools and containerization
• Scripting experience with Bash, Python, or similar
• Experience with Cloud Orchestration (Nomad, Kubernetes, etc.)
• Experience with metrics and reporting (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)
• A calm, solutions-oriented approach when priorities shift
• Curiosity and drive to keep learning new technical skills
