Job summary

GIGATEC Engineering in New York seeks a DevOps Engineer to design, implement, and sustain automation tools for high-performance computing environments. You will optimize Linux-based pipelines, build containerized services with Docker and Kubernetes, and drive reliability through monitoring and IaC practices.

The role emphasizes hands-on scripting in Bash and Python, collaboration with system engineers, and maintaining secure, scalable infrastructure under a Top Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Experience with Linux CLI and scripting in Bash/Python.
• Experience developing with Python and Java in a Linux environment.
• General HPC knowledge of compute, network, memory, and storage components.
• Experience with IaC concepts and automation tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
• Experience installing and supporting Linux software, libraries, and packages.
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker/containerd) and Kubernetes, including bare metal deployments.

Responsibilities

• Engineer and sustain automation tools for HPC system infrastructure in a Linux/Kubernetes environment.
• Blend Linux expertise, Kubernetes know-how, and DevOps practices to maintain high-performance systems.

What You’ll Be Doing (We don’t love the bullet points, but we love the work!)

In this key DevOps role, you’ll help engineer and sustain automation tools that keep High Performance Computing (HPC) system infrastructure humming, blending Linux expertise, Kubernetes know-how, and DevOps precision into a high-performance environment.

Required Skills

• Experience using the Linux CLI
• Experience developing and maintaining scripts using Bash/Python
• Experience developing with Python and Java in a Linux environment
• General HPC technical knowledge regarding compute, network, memory, and storage system components
• Experience with IaC (Infrastructure as Code) concepts, principles and automation tools such as Ansible and Terraform
• Experience installing, configuring, and supporting COTS/GOTS/FOSS software, libraries, and packages in a Linux environment
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and containerd
• Experience with container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes
• Experience administering Kubernetes clusters on bare metal in a Linux environment
