Job summary

Fast Retailing in New York City is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our global IT team. The role focuses on implementing, operating and improving public cloud infrastructure for customer-facing store and e-commerce systems, with emphasis on AWS, containerized services, and automated CI/CD pipelines.

Fast Retailing's IT department is leading these efforts globally by expanding our global engineering teams to the US to join our global team in improving the cloud systems. We are recruiting a DevOps Engineer to join our New York City based team to engage in implementing, operating, and improving our customer facing public cloud-based infrastructure, such as, store and e-commerce systems.

Position Overview:

The DevOps Engineer reports to the Cloud Infrastructure Manager in a newly formed infrastructure team focused on customer facing services delivered globally. Advanced hands-on experience of AWS container infrastructure services and best practices on building and operating infrastructure are required for the role. A broad and deep skillset, including, but not limited to, deployment automation, IaC, implementation and support of CI/CD pipelines, database optimization, and infrastructure security are required to improve and support our in-house developed services. The team is responsible for recovering system incidents in cooperation with the monitoring and level 2 operation teams. You will help the team on incident resolution and have solid experience in isolating the cause of failures, providing instructions on how to recover quickly, and implementing these instructions.

Fast Retailing adopts a microservice architecture, dividing the functions that make up the service into component units and running each component on containerized infrastructure. This position is expected to automate deployment through CI/CD of the container services, construct new infrastructure resources, and perform operational improvements to the container infrastructure in response to business forecasts and demand analysis. Additionally, continuous cost management for public cloud infrastructure is equally important to be monitored and maintained leveraging our cost optimization toolset.

As a DevOps Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, implementing and maintaining our DevOps practices. This position will partner with cross functional and global teams on US and global projects with the opportunity to gain vast experience on the technology evolution of our customer facing services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the DevOps team.
  • Drive the adoption of DevOps best practices and methodologies throughout the organization.
  • Establish and enforce standardized DevOps processes, tools and workflows globally.
  • Collaborate with local teams and global teams to ensureconsistency in development,testing and deployment practices.
  • Foster collaboration and communication across culturally diverse global teams.
4) Infrastructure as Code(IAC):
  • Lead design, implementation and maintenance of scalable and automated infrastructure using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Cloud Formation etc.
  • Ensure infrastructure reliability, scalability and security.
  • Architect, implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration, testing and deployment.
6) Cloud Architecture and Optimization:
  • Lead the design and optimization of cloud-based architectures(e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP, Oracle Cloud).
  • Implement and enforce best practices for security,cost management, reliability and scalability in the cloud.
7) Monitoring and Alerting:
  • Oversee implementation of monitoring and alerting solutions for applications and infrastructure.
8) Incident Response and Support:
  • Lead incident response efforts, ensuring timely resolution and preventive measures.
9) Security and Compliance:
  • Collaborate with security teams to implement and enhance security best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal security policies.
10) Documentation:
  • Document DevOps processes, procedures and configurations.
  • Provide training and support to teams to promote self-service in DevOps practices.
11) Containerization and Orchestration:
  • Drive the adoption of containerization technologies(e.g. Docker) and orchestration tools(e.g. Kubernetes).
  • Implement and manage containerized application deployment strategies.
Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science.
  • Hands-on expertise with AWS infrastructure design, build, and operations including, but not limited to, instances, containers, storage, networking, cloud security, and databases. (ECS, EKS, EBS, S3, VPC, RDS, CloudWatch etc).
  • 4+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure operations.
  • Experience in building and managing infrastructure using IaC tools. (Terraform, Ansible,etc)
  • Experience in developing operational tools to achieve operational improvements and automation in shell scripting, bash, Python and/or Golang.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD concepts and tools like Jenkins, ArgoCD etc.
  • Knowledge of version control systems. (eg. Git).
  • Experience with monitoring tools like Grafana, Datadog, Splunk etc.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL. (MySQL, postgreSQL, etc).
  • Experience with collaboration tools like Jira, Confluence, Slack etc.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.
  • Problem-solving attitude.
  • Collaborative team spirit.

Preferred:

  • Build and operate monitoring and logging platforms expanding on the monitoring elements, reports, and dashboards.
  • Experience designing, building, and troubleshooting for CDN utilizing Akamai.
  • Experience with Alerting tools like PagerDuty etc.
  • Experience with cloud technologies like Google Cloud, Azure, Oracle cloud.
  • Industry certifications, such as those of Amazon or Google’s cloud solutions.

Salary range for this role is $115,000.00 - $120,000.00*
