Job summary

Motion Recruitment Partners is seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer to join its cloud infrastructure team in Charlotte, NC on a 12+ month W2 contract with a hybrid schedule (3 days onsite). You will architect, implement, and maintain enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform, focusing on automation, scalability, and reliability.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with GCP, GKE, Docker Swarm, Linux administration, CI/CD pipelines, Terraform and Ansible, plus Python REST

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field.
• Hands-on experience with GCP, GKE, Docker Swarm, and Linux system administration.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong understanding of container orchestration, networking, and cloud security.
• Proficiency with IaC tools Terraform and Ansible.
• Scripting and automation using Python and RESTful APIs.
• Ability to work independently and with teams.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, manage, and scale containerized apps using GCP, GKE, and Docker Swarm.
• Configure, secure, and maintain Linux-based systems across environments.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support automated builds, tests, and deployments.
• Design and automate infrastructure provisioning with Terraform and Ansible.
• Develop Python scripts and REST APIs to support automation and system interaction.
• Monitor and optimize database performance for PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch.
• Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams on integration and performance.
• Document infrastructure architecture, processes, and best practices.

One of the country's largest financial services companies is searching for a Cloud Platform Engineer to join their growing cloud infrastructure team on a hybrid basis out of Charlotte, NC. In this role, you will be at the heart of architecting, implementing, and maintaining cutting-edge cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform. This is your chance to make a real impact by driving automation, scalability, and reliability for mission-critical services while collaborating across development, QA, and operations teams to deliver next-generation cloud solutions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Kubernetes (GKE), Docker Swarm, and Linux administration.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, manage, and scale containerized applications using GCP, GKE, and Docker Swarm
• Configure, secure, and maintain Linux-based systems and servers across multiple environments
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar tools to support automated builds, testing, and deployment workflows
• Design and automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using tools such as Terraform and Ansible
• Develop and integrate Python scripts and REST APIs to support automation and system interaction
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize database performance across PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch environments
• Partner with development, QA, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration and system performance
• Document infrastructure architecture, processes, and best practices

Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent work experience will be considered
• Hands-on experience with GCP, GKE, Docker Swarm, and Linux system administration
• Demonstrated experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
• Strong understanding of container orchestration, networking, and cloud security principles
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools, particularly Terraform and Ansible
• Scripting and automation experience using Python and RESTful APIs
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with OpenShift (OCS)
• Background in administrating PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch databases
• Advanced Terraform and Ansible implementation experience
