Job summary

Glint Tech Solutions is recruiting a DevOps Engineer for a 100% onsite Bellevue, WA role supporting a leading nuclear energy organization. You will lead software architecture, build scalable CI/CD pipelines, and mentor teams in a regulated environment, delivering reliable workflows and automation.

You will collaborate across IT and engineering, improve multi-repo pipelines, and help realize long-term reliability and sustainability of critical software systems in a first-of-a-kind reactor context.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10+ years in software development with degree in CS/Nuclear/Physics or related field
  • Experience developing scientific software that schedules HPC workloads (e.g., via SLURM)
  • Strong CI/CD, automated testing, and modern development practices
  • Proficiency with containerization technologies including Docker and Apptainer
  • Proficiency with Python and modern Git-based development workflows
  • Experience in SQA-regulated environments (e.g., NQA-1)
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor contributors and guide teams through complex processes

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical ownership by influencing software architecture and development approaches
  • Design and implement new features and refactors with focus on clarity and performance
  • Ensure architecture, configuration, testing, and documentation meet regulated-environment requirements
  • Create and improve multi-repo CI/CD pipelines, tests, and containerized workflows
  • Own release processes and streamline workflows to reduce manual steps
  • Collaborate with IT, engineering analysts, and developers for robust tools and automation
  • Provide onboarding and hands-on technical leadership across a complex scientific software ecosystem
  • Reduce technical debt by promoting maintainable design patterns and modernization

Project Description

Our client, a leading advanced nuclear energy organization, is seeking a DevOps Engineer to support the development and operation of software used for design, monitoring, and analysis of a first-of-a-kind Natrium advanced reactor. Reporting to the Engineering Analysis Automation Software (EAAS) team, the engineer will provide elevated technical leadership across software development, platform architecture, scientific computing, DevOps, and workflow automation. The ideal candidate has a proven history of driving complex engineering efforts in a regulated environment while consistently delivering high-quality, reliable results.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical ownership by influencing software architecture and development approaches supporting long-term reliability and sustainability
  • Design and implement new features and refactors with a focus on clarity, maintainability, and performance
  • Ensure consistent architecture, configuration, testing, and documentation practices that satisfy regulated-environment requirements
  • Create, maintain, and improve multi-repository CI/CD pipelines, testing strategies, and containerized workflows providing consistent, traceable environments
  • Own and improve recurring release processes by streamlining workflows, reinforcing regression test infrastructure, and minimizing manual steps
  • Collaborate with IT, engineering analysts, and software developers to deliver robust tools, automated workflows, and sustainable practices meeting SQARequirements
  • Provide onboarding, mentoring, and hands-on technical leadership across a complex scientific software ecosystem
  • Reduce technical debt by championing maintainable design patterns, modernization opportunities, and consistent development standards
  • Take on additional systems, services, and workflows as EAAS technical scope evolves
Mandatory Skills
  • 10+ years in software development plus a B.S. in Computer Science, Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or related discipline — or advanced degree with equivalent experience
  • Experience developing scientific software that schedules HPC workloads (e.g., via SLURM)
  • Strong background in CI/CD, automated testing, and modern development practices
  • Proficiency with containerization technologies including Docker and Apptainer
  • Proficiency with Python and modern Git-based development workflows
  • Experience developing in SQA-regulated environments (e.g., NQA-1)
  • Strong communication, analytical thinking, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor contributors and guide teams through complex processes
Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Experience supporting engineering, scientific, or nuclear software
  • Experience with automated documentation workflows
  • Experience supporting multiple teams or shared platforms — frameworks, toolchains, or multi-repository environments
  • Familiarity with compiled languages such as Fortran, C/C++, or Rust
