Job summary

SAIC is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our Arlington, VA team. This role is primarily onsite at the customer location with a minimum of three onsite days per week.

You will build and maintain internal DevOps tooling and a scalable CI/CD platform across Azure, AWS, and on-prem environments, using Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, and GitLab. Strong scripting, IaC, and security–focused delivery are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and five (5) years experience; additional work experience can substitute for degree.
• Go-based CLI tools and API integrations to automate cloud infrastructure provisioning.
• Strong background deploying and managing cloud resources (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, etc).
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience with Terraform and other tools.
• Scripting language such as PowerShell or Python for pipeline and OS task automation.
• Proficient with Linux command line and shell scripting (Bash).
• Familiarity with Microsoft enterprise environments (Active Directory, Entra ID, DNS).
• Configuration management experience using Ansible, Puppet, and Chef.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience using Docker containers.

Responsibilities

• Tool Development: Build internal DevOps tools, CLI utilities, and automation scripts.
• Platform Engineer building and running our internal developer platform (Azure, CI/CD, Kubernetes, pipelines and automation).
• GitLab for source control and pipelines; Terraform and Ansible as primary automation language; Python for helpers/tests; Helm for Kubernetes deployments.
• Microsoft Azure Stack Hub and Hyper-V sidecar.
• Trunk-based GitLab workflows, deterministic pipelines with built-in testing and security scans, evidenced on changes.
• SBOM-driven movement of artifacts, mirroring via reposync and Pulp, offlinescanning and promotion for high-side environments.
• Secret hygiene by default, secrets management familiarity, and vulnerability/misconfig scanning in CI (SAST, IaC, secret detection, Semgrep/KICS, Trivy/pip-audit).

Note: This role is primarily onsite at our customer location. The selected candidate will be expected to work onsite a minimum of three (3) days per week. Onsite requirements are subject to change based on program needs.

Job Duties

• Tool Development: Build internal DevOps tools, CLI utilities, and automation scripts.
• Platform Engineer building and running our internal developer platform (Azure,CI/CD, Kubernetes,pipelinesand automation) for both connected and air-gapped environments.
• GitLab for source control and pipelines;Terraform and Ansibleas the primary automation language; Pythonfor helpers/tests; Helm for Kubernetes deployments.
• Microsoft Azure Stack HubandHyper-V sidecar.
• Trunk-based GitLab workflows, deterministic pipelines with built-in testing and security scans, evidence (JUnit/SBOM/scan) attached to every change, no manual “click-ops.”
• Checksum/signature/SBOM-driven movement of artifacts,mirroring viareposyncand Pulp, offlinescanningand promotion for high-side environments.
• Secret hygiene by default,secrets managementfamiliarity, and comfort with vulnerability/misconfigscanning inCI(SAST,IaC, secretdetection,Semgrep/KICS,Trivy/pip-audit).

Clearance Requirements

• Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) experience, RHEL/Windowspatching familiarity, and strong documentation habits for handoffs and audits.
• ExperienceutilizingHelm for managing Kubernetes deployments.

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
