Job summary

WEX is seeking a Software Engineer Intern to join a team of engineers and product managers tackling real-world challenges with modern cloud infrastructure, backend tools, and AI-driven development.

You will gain hands-on experience containerizing apps with Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure, and building C# backend components while exploring AI workflows and Cursor tooling. This 13-week paid program runs late May to mid-August, with remote, hybrid, and onsite options across the U.S.

Qualifications

• Educational Foundation: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Software Engineering, or related field and will have completed at least your Sophomore year of school at the start of the internship.
• Foundational experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and C# through coursework or hands-on projects.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure (or general cloud computing concepts).
• Basic knowledge of Python, Helm charts, or AI agent frameworks is a plus.
• Eagerness to adopt AI coding tools (e.g., Cursor) and learn rapidly during the internship.

About the Team/Role

The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX’s total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan. WEX’s comprehensive and market competitive benefits are designed to support your personal and professional well-being. Pay Range: $27.00 - $35.00.
