Job summary

Adventist Health is seeking an experienced practice clinician to manage implanted cardiac pacemaker and ICD devices. You will work with physicians and the device team, performing independent, skilled clinical care and device management with appropriate technical and decision-making capabilities.

The role involves device clinic operations, patient education, and collaboration to implement treatment plans. You will contribute to quality care while adhering to regulatory requirements and safety

Qualifications

• High School Education/GED required.
• Associate/Technical Degree preferred.
• Cardiovascular experience preferred.
• Training in pacemaker and device technology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients clinically for device/rhythm issues, perform basic interrogation and programming adjustments per protocol, troubleshoot device issues, perform device clinic triage and patient education, and assist with regulatory compliance.
• Assess pacemaker/ICD devices fully (in person or remotely) with full interrogation, identify sub-optimal programming, abnormal findings and/or arrhythmias, assist staff and management in new tasks, exercise independent judgment on moderately complex cases.
• Interpret patient condition and abnormal findings, communicate promptly to physicians, contribute to process improvement or new clinical services, elevate issues to senior staff as needed.
• Work under minimal supervision, ensure accuracy in billing and scheduling for device services, mentor and train staff on technical skills.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Maintains performance responsibility as an experienced/skilled practice technical clinician. Performs independently, with physician oversight, in the technical management of implanted cardiac pacemaker and Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) devices. Manages device patients and care implementing treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and other device team members. Acts as a competent clinician who provides clinical care in a skilled and effective manner, utilizing appropriate technical and decision‑making skills.

Education and Work Experience

• High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
• Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
• Cardiovascular experience: Preferred
• Training in pacemaker and device technology: Preferred

Essential Functions

• Assesses patients clinically for device/rhythm issues. Performs basic interrogation and adjustments to programming as per protocol, or specific order. Troubleshoots basic, intermediate and advanced device issues. Performs device clinic triage including patient instruction and education regarding device, and remote monitoring. Works on problems of diverse scope and complexity. Assists with regulatory compliance.
• Assesses device (pacemaker or ICD) fully (either in person or remotely) with full interrogation and identification of sub‑optimal programming, abnormal findings and/or arrhythmias. Assists clinical staff and department or unit management in determining methods and procedures for new tasks. Exercises independent judgment on moderately complex cases. Collaborates with team to ensure patient issues are addressed.
• Interprets patient's condition and abnormal technical/clinical findings and communicates in a timely manner to physician and/or appropriate healthcare team. Assists in making recommendations on process improvement or development of new clinical services. Elevates questions, problems and significant challenges to more senior staff for direction or subject matter expertise.
• Works under minimal supervision, uses independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors. Assures accuracy in billing and scheduling for all device services. Mentors and trains staff on technical skills.
• Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
