Job summary

Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, ID, is seeking a day-shift, full-time Cardiology HOPD Clinic Device Technician. You will perform device interrogations and testing on pacemakers and defibrillators, educate patients on equipment, and support efficient clinic flow in a high-volume cardiology setting.

Responsibilities include documenting services, scheduling appointments, and ensuring accurate data entry into the EHR and manufacturer portals. EMT or CNA certification and BLS are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Certification as EMT or CNA is required.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer.

Responsibilities

  • Interrogate and test internal cardiac devices per protocol.
  • Provide education to patients about manufacturer equipment and device knowledge.
  • Care for adult and geriatric patients as applicable.
  • Support efficient clinical flow and communicate with the team.
  • Document services and supplies accurately in the medical record.
  • Schedule patients to optimize provider calendars and satisfaction.
  • Operate device checks and uploads: interrogations, testing, and reports to EHR and manufacturer sites.

  • Portneuf Medical Center (PMC) is a nationally recognized healthcare leader with 205 beds, serving as the region's Level II Trauma Center and tertiary referral hospital and is home to the Portneuf Heart and Vascular Institute, Portneuf Cancer Center, Portneuf Medical Group and Portneuf Air Rescue. PMC has a Level III neonatal intensive care unit, an adult intensive care unit, nationally recognized orthopedic services, a full suite of cardiac care, Center of Excellence recognized surgeons, imaging, primary and specialty care.
Responsibilities
  • The Device Technician takes responsibility for performing interrogations and device testing of internal cardiac devices, including cardiac pacemakers, cardiac defibrillators, and loop recorders, according to protocol and professional standards.
  • Provide education to patients regarding manufacturer equipment and device knowledge.
  • Competently care for the following age groups: Adult and Geriatric, as applicable.
  • Support efficient clinical flow and communicate accurately and positively with team members.
  • Ensure the accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to the patients.
  • Schedule patients for appointments Schedules patient appointments to effectively utilize the providers’ schedules and create patient satisfaction.
  • Device Operation/Checks:
    • Interrogate and complete device testing of internal cardiac device per competency guidelines.
    • Upload all interrogation and device testing reports to the EHR per competency guidelines.
    • Monitor and create remote download reports for physicians per competency guidelines.
    • Review the accuracy of downloaded device information, edit the information, and enter it into manufacturer sites and the EHR systems.
Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Current Emergency Medical Tech (EMT) or Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Previous knowledge of EKGs, external and internal cardiac monitors, pacemakers, and defibrillators, and cardiology experience.
