Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Albuquerque, NM is seeking a skilled Cardiology Device Clinic Nurse to assess, plan, implement, evaluate and document care for patients with cardiac implantable electronic devices.

Responsibilities include interrogating and programming devices from all four major manufacturers, reviewing remote transmissions, and serving as a clinical resource across facilities. RN with CIED training will join a dedicated team providing cross-coverage and ongoing education.

Qualifications

  • Associates of Science in Nursing required.
  • RN-NM, current NM licensure.
  • 1-2 years in critical care or electrophysiology preferred.

  • Interrogates, evaluates and programs implanted cardiac devices for in-person encounters using device programmers.
  • Recognizes device abnormalities and coordinates follow-up or replacement as needed.
  • Completes documentation for CIED assessment and anticoagulation status.

Presbyterian is hiring a skilled Cardiology Device Clinic Nurse for a highly skilled, technically adept nursing position that serves to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document professional nursing care of patients with cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIED) to include pacemakers, implantable defibrillators, cardiac resynchronization therapy and implantable loop recorders.

Responsibilities:

  • Interrogates, evaluates and programs implanted cardiac devices for in-person patient encounters with proficiency utilizing programmers for all four major device manufacturers (Medtronic, Abbott, Boston Scientific and Biotronik)
  • Recognizes CIED abnormalities, such as device or lead malfunction, End of Service indicators, notifies cardiologist and assists in scheduling patients for follow-up or replacement as indicated.
  • Completes pertinent documentation for CIED assessment, arrhythmia management and anticoagulation status.
  • Responsible for reviewing/processing of CIED remote transmissions and trans-telephonic monitoring for alert notifications as well as routine transmissions.
  • Knowledgeable of manufacturer device advisories/recalls and follows recommended guidelines by manufacturer for the specific advisory notification.
  • Participates in continuing education specific to CIED management, electrical heart disease as well as other related cardiac disease processes, i.e. congestive heart failure, genetic & congenital heart disease.
  • Provides cross-coverage within CIED department to satellite facilities at Rust Medical and Santa Fe Medical Center.
  • Serves as an expert resource for device and arrhythmia management to CIED technicians, nurses, APCs, cardiologists, Research Department, Radiology Department, and primary care physicians.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associates of Science in Nursing required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • RN-NM, Current licensure in New Mexico as a registered nurse
  • 1-2 years' experience (2 years preferred), in critical care, interventional cardiology/electrophysiology lab or cardiac step-down unit.
  • Strong cardiology background preferred.
  • BLS certification & ACLS certification required
  • Completion of a professional CIED program through Arrhythmia Technologies Institute (ATI), PrepMD or similar program preferred.
  • CIED management experience preferred
  • International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) certification desirable
