Cascade Engineering Services, Inc. seeks a detail-oriented Device Analysis Engineering Lab Technician in Redmond, WA to support analytical workflows.

You will perform sample preparation, execute test methods, and collect data accurately while maintaining lab readiness for customer interactions. You will manage lab supplies and equipment, coordinate preventive maintenance, and collaborate with engineers and vendors to resolve issues.

Qualifications

  • Technical/associates degree in STEM; bachelor preferred.
  • Direct analytical lab experience, preferably in failure analysis or materials science.
  • Experience with sample prep, mounting, SEM prep, and lab inventory control.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and organize lab supplies, fixtures, tools, and test equipment.
  • Own day-to-day lab operations and 5S compliance.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance and vendor support for analytical equipment.
  • Support data collection and analysis for tests and experiments.
  • Assist in customer-facing lab tours and demos as needed.
  • Process procurement activities: sourcing quotes, PO creation, and invoice tracking.
  • Drive continuous improvement in lab operations and material handling.

Job description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Device Analysis Engineering Lab Technician. This role includes performing sample preparation, executing test methods with accurate data collection, maintaining lab supplies and equipment, managing inventory and material flow. The specialist will collaborate with engineers and vendors to support equipment maintenance and analytical processes, while ensuring lab readiness for customer interactions and adherence to 5S and operational standards.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and organize laboratory supplies, fixtures, tools, and test equipment
  • Own day‑to‑day lab operations
  • Ensure lab cleanliness, organization, and sustainability aligned to 5S standards
  • Coordinate and schedule preventive maintenance for analytical and test equipment
  • Partner with vendors and internal teams to resolve equipment issues and maintenance needs
  • Support Failure Analysis utilizing the following analytical techniques: X-ray, Cross‑sectioning, polishing, grinding, and mounting, Profilometry, Contact angle, Nanoindentation, Optical microscopy, SEM, FTIR, XRF
  • Operate analytical laboratory equipment to execute test methods, ensure accurate data collection
  • Execute defined test methods and support data collection activities
  • Ensure proper handling, preparation, and tracking of test samples
  • Partner with engineers to define analytical methods, expectations, and result interpretation
  • Manage incoming and outgoing material flow within the lab
  • Own inventory tracking, replenishment, and organization of lab supplies
  • Execute procurement support activities, including sourcing supplier quotes, coordinating purchase order (PO) creation, and tracking invoices through receipt, verification, and closure
  • Support lab tour preparation and customer-facing readiness activities
  • Ensure lab presentation, flow, and environment meet customer expectations
  • Assist in execution of lab walkthroughs and demos as needed
  • Drive continuous improvement in lab operations, workflows, and material handlingSupport adherence to defined lab processes and operational standards
  • Support cross‑functional coordination with engineering, facilities, and operations teams
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support lab and program objectives
Requirements
  • Technical/Associates Degree in a STEM related discipline
  • Bachelor of Materials Science and Engineering preferred
Experience
  • Direct experience working in an analytical laboratory, preferably related to failure analysis, materials science, inorganic chemistry or semiconductor manufacturing would be an advantage
  • Experience doing sample preparation, including but not limited to: mounting samples in epoxy, preparing samples for SEM, using a saw/polisher
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail
  • Experience in laboratory inventory control & ordering consumable supplies
  • Experience in failure analysis metrology preferred
  • Ability to learn new technologies and techniques
  • Ability to utilize analytical lab equipment with hands on experience
  • Computer skills such as use of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
  • Excellent technical documentation and communication skills, both written and verbal
