Job summary

Thom Child & Family Services Worcester, MA is seeking a bilingual Developmental Specialist who will provide home and community-based early intervention services to infants and toddlers birth to three and their families. You will collaborate with parents/caregivers to tailor services to family priorities, cultures, and needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in infants/toddlers related field and practicum/work with young children (≥300 hours).
  • 1 year of Early Intervention experience or minimum 3 years with infants, toddlers and families.
  • Knowledge of family systems and early childhood development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Current driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Bilingual/Multilingual in Spanish, Portuguese or Haitian Creole is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in multidisciplinary team assessments of the client’s developmental status.
  • Assess family and child strengths/resources, concerns and progress.
  • Provide child and family-centered services for birth to three using parent coaching.
  • Provide service coordination: scheduling, developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating plans.
  • Partner with families to identify IFSP goals, objectives and strategies.
  • Facilitate parent-child interactions to support development; help families advocate for their child.
  • Complete progress notes, reports and correspondence using Thom electronic systems.
  • Deliver individual and group interventions for infants/toddlers with delays or at risk.

Thom Child & Family Services located in Worcester, MA is seeking aBilingual-Spanish or Portuguese or Haitian Creole Developmental Specialist/Early Childhood Educator to join their team.

As an Early Intervention Early Childhood Educator or Developmental Specialist, you will be responsible for providing home and community based early intervention services to infants and toddlers who have or are at risk for developmental delays and their families in both their homes and community settings. You will partner with parents/caregivers to ensure service delivery is individualized, meaningful for the family, and grounded in evidence-based practice. Through this collaborative process you ensure families’ priorities, needs, culture, and values are prioritized.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team assessments of the client’s developmental status.
  • Assess family and child strengths/resources, concerns, and progress.
  • Provide child and family centered services and activities developmental appropriate for children birth to three and their families using parent coaching model.
  • Provide service coordination by scheduling, developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the intervention plan for each family, ensuring that appropriate procedures and timelines are followed.
  • Partner with families in the development of Individual Family Service Plans (IFSPs) to identify goals, objectives, and strategies related to the child’s development.
  • Facilitate parent-child interactions to encourage child's development; assist families to act as advocates for their child.
  • Complete progress notes, reports, assessments, and correspondence as appropriate using the Thom electronic documentation system.
  • Provide individual and group intervention for infants and toddlers from birth to three years old who have developmental delays or who are at risk for delays in the areas of cognition, adaptive behavior, social-emotional development, self-care, fine motor, gross motor, and communication.
Position Requirements:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree with a major or concentration in infants and toddlers (includes Early Intervention and Early Childhood Education), child development, child studies, education or special education and at least 300 hours of practicum or work experience with young children.
  • 1 year experience in Early Intervention or minimum 3 years' experience working with infants, toddlers and families is required.
  • Experience with infants, toddlers and families is preferred
  • Knowledge of family systems and early childhood development.
  • Ability to engage in meaningful, therapeutic relationships with children, parents/caregivers, and community partners.
  • Commitment to delivering individualized and culturally humble services.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Abide by all confidentiality and professional boundaries standards.
  • Good computer skills as well as strong documentation skills.
  • Current driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Bilingual/Multilingual Spanish or Portuguese or Haitian Creole a must.
