Job summary

The Howard Hughes Medical Institute at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City is seeking a Research Technician to join Dr. Jennifer Zallen's lab. You will work with an interactive, multidisciplinary team using molecular biology, imaging, and genome editing to study cell movement and tissue development.

We provide mentorship, hands-on training, and opportunities to contribute to publications, with a focus on developing skills in CRISPR, confocal microscopy, and live-imaging.

Qualifications

  • BS in biology or related field and relevant lab experience.
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques and imaging.
  • Motivated, collaborative, and able to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Use molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology techniques to study protein localization, dynamics, and function.
  • Learn and apply confocal microscopy and time-lapse imaging to study cell dynamics in developing tissues.
  • Assist with design and engineering of fly and mouse lines using CRISPR/Cas9 methods.
  • Maintain collections of model organisms and collaborate with scientists and students.
