UC San Diego is searching for two (2) dedicated Development Technicians to support the construction and assembly of oceanographic research equipment for a 5-6-month temporary assignment.
Duration: This role is anticipated to last 5-6 months.
Compensation: $20.78/hour. Eligible for paid holidays and vacation/sick leave. Medicalbenefits also available.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00A - 4:30P
Location: 100% on-site on campus in La Jolla.
DESCRIPTIONAs a Development Technician your primary responsibility will be to assist our technical staff in research equipment fabrication and warehouse support.
The core emphasis is to support the research, development, production and deployment of oceanographic instrumentation. Primary job function will be to assist technical staff and in support of drifter fabrication. Tasking includes but is not limited to receiving and processing incoming packages and making available to designated staff, packaging and dropping off outgoing packages based on direction from designated staff, sorting and organizing drifter components ahead of greater assembly and counting discrete inventoried components based on direction from designated staff. Tasking also includes general warehouse upkeep as well as shop and studio upkeep.
QUALIFICATIONSThis position involves manual labor, frequent standing and heavy lifting with repetitive motions(assembly line work).
Universal Background Check, References, and DMV checks and clearances are required prior to hiring.
This position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter pursuant to the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) and requires immediate reporting of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, or neglect of anyone under the age of 18. It is the responsibility of the Mandated Reporter to ensure that they obtain proper training in order to fulfill their reporting responsibilities as required by the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and University policy, and to complete and submit the required reports to the UC San Diego Police Department without delay.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $43,389 - $50,738 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $20.78 - $24.30
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
