Job summary

KC Current is hiring a Performance Coach for Kansas City Current II. You will design, deliver, and oversee sports performance and science programming to develop every KCC II player for first-team readiness.

You will work within a multidisciplinary health and performance group, tracking load, refining prescriptions, and coordinating with First Team staff to ensure consistent standards across the club.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Strength and Conditioning, or related field preferred.
• 3–5 years of strength and conditioning or sports performance experience with collegiate, academy, or professional athletes.
• NSCA CSCS certification required.
• NSCA CPSS certification preferred.
• NASM PES or equivalent certifications preferred.
• Prior experience in soccer is required.
• Experience in supporting female soccer athletes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own the physical development of every KCC II player, including profiling, program design, and day-to-day delivery.
• Report on individual program outcomes at regular intervals and refine prescriptions.
• Build and manage the annual training plan periodization in partnership with KCC II staff.
• Track training load daily to seasonal scales using GPS, heart rate, wellness data.
• Align training methodology and performance standards with First Team and Academy.
• Support players moving between First Team, KCC II, and Academy; monitor load implications.
• Prepare players for training and matches with activation, risk reduction, fueling, and recovery work.
• Lead on-field warm-ups and cool-downs for KCC II sessions and matches.
• Contribute to return-to-play progressions with medical staff.
• Coordinate nutrition, hydration, and supplementation guidance for the group.
• Maintain performance records, testing data, and athlete monitoring reports.
• Advance sports performance initiatives across the player pathway.
• Represent KC Current professionally at all times.
• Travel with KCC II for away matches and camps as required.
