Job summary

The City of Bakersfield is seeking a staff member to support the Planning or Building Division with knowledge of land use and economic development and/or building activities. Duties include processing building plans, code review, and zoning compliance, under supervision.

Minimum qualifications include high school diploma or GED, two years of college in planning, and a California driver’s license. An equivalent mix of education and experience may be considered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of college with planning coursework preferred.
• Two years of planning/public administration experience related to building or zoning.
• Equivalent combination of training, education and experience acceptable.
• California Class C driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Work in Planning or Building Division with land use and economic development knowledge.
• Assist in permitting, processing, or reviewing building plans and codes.
• Support building construction, architecture or engineering related tasks.
