Job summary

Cobb County Government in Marietta is seeking a Civil Engineer to supervise the Development Services section within the Engineering and Records Division. You will oversee zoning, plan review, permitting, and inspections of water distribution and sanitary sewer infrastructure for new developments and redevelopments.

The role requires leading staff, scheduling, performance evaluations, training, and coordination with multiple departments and the public.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
• Seven years of progressively responsible engineering experience or equivalent.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Georgia Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain within one year.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day operations and staff of Development Services within Engineering and Records Division.
• Direct work schedules, timesheets and performance, providing guidance and coaching as needed.
• Organize and prioritize work to meet objectives; ensure resources and project progress are monitored.
• Oversee engineering work and coordinate multi-department projects; present at community forums as needed.
• Develop and implement goals and strategies aligned with regulatory programs and Cobb County Codes.
• Review site development plans for compliance with laws and standards; facilitate permits and corrective actions.
• Lead RFP processes, bid evaluations, and contract award recommendations.
• Serve as liaison among owners, project managers, contractors, and public stakeholders.
