Job summary

The City of Eagle is seeking a Residential Plans Examiner to review residential plans, ensure code compliance and work with builders, contractors and homeowners to move projects from a plan to reality. Under supervision (Examiner I) or direction (Examiner II) of the Building Official, performs technical plans exam work and enforces construction codes to protect public health, safety and welfare.

The Plans Examiner II can operate with more autonomy and lead as needed.

Under supervision (Examiner I) or direction (Examiner II) of the Building Official, performs technical plans exam work (Examiner I) and complex technical duties (Examiner II) in evaluating, interpreting, investigating, and enforcing construction and development codes and related laws and ordinances to ensure public health, safety, and welfare. Work involves extensive communication across the City’s departments and with homeowners and related professionals.

The Plans Examiner II is the journey-level classification of the job series, focusing on both commercial and residential construction. The Examiner II is distinguished by working with more autonomy, receiving guidance only when requested or a higher authority is needed. The work is also further distinguished by performing more complex responsibilities that require a full understanding of codes, procedures, and policies, and of the responsibility to enforce both commercial and residential codes and related laws. The Plans Examiner II operates as a Lead as needed.

Full Time with benefits – open until filled. Hiring Range $28.54-$30.00 per hour, DOE.
