COPT Defense Properties is seeking an Accounting Manager to ensure GAAP-compliant financial information for development projects. You will oversee cost accounting, monthly labor allocations, and revenue reporting, while maintaining SOX 404 controls and preparing audit work papers.
You will partner with project managers, monitor variances, and provide timely analyses to leadership. Four to six years of related accounting experience are required, with CPA preferred.
Responsible for the integrity of financial information for select development projects and processes in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), company policy and contractual arrangements. Ensure strong system of internal control in support of SOX 404. Possess the most detailed knowledge of the projects and development projects in order to address both managerial and financial concerns. Review monthly job cost reports, monitor cost activity, develop budgets and quarterly estimates, analyze variances and interface with project managers to resolve issues. Perform balance sheet reviews and audit work paper preparation. Provide management relevant and timely information on which to make decisions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Monitor payments against approved spend.
Investigate and resolve variances.
Manage budgets and estimates in the job cost system.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Understand and maintain the internal controls and policies of COPT. Communicate any deficiencies in controls to Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education - Bachelor Degree in Accounting or related discipline required.
Further Training - CPA is preferred.

Computer Skills -
PC proficiency using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and ability to learn company specific software.

Pay Range: $90,000 - $105,000
Bachelors or better in Accounting.
Four to six years of related accounting experience required.
