Job description

This is a hybrid role, must be able to work in Cook County, will need to travel to the Glen Ellyn office one day/week after the initial two months plus travel to the area for monthly staff meetings and fundraising events.

About the role:

The goal for this role is to increase financial resources for the ministry through strategically identifying new individuals, foundations, organizations, and business owners, building relationships with them, inviting them into financial partnership/ increased giving and stewarding their gifts.

This position will focus on securing five and six figure multi-year gifts to support the expansion of the ministry. This role is also responsible for expanding the donor base in the city of Chicago and in nearby suburbs by identifying and engaging new major gift prospects in the area to support the expansion of Caring Network’s clinics into the city.

This role reports to the V.P. of Development and serves as part of the Development Team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Engage in face-to-face request meeting to secure major gifts to fund the mission, including from 4 to 5-figure gifts and from 5 to 6-figure gifts.
  • Identify prospects and grow the donor base in Cook county and nearby suburbs.
  • Work with a starter portfolio of mid and major donors to increase their engagement by developing short and long-range plans, which include:
    • personalized communications
    • insider events
    • face-to-face meetings
    • impact reporting
  • Integrate planned giving to secure long-term sustainable giving.
  • Document, in CRM database, all contacts with donors.
  • Attend and support donor events.
  • Collaborate with Special Events Manager to organize events to support our city clinics. This may include recruiting volunteers.
  • Participate in bi-monthly Development Team Meetings and Monthly Staff Meetings.
  • Represent ministry at local churches and organizations on a limited basis

Candidate requirements:

  • A committed Christian who demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and is a participant in a local church.
  • Exhibit a strong commitment and dedication to the pro-life position and enthusiasm for the mission and strategy of Caring Network.
  • Agree with and be willing to uphold Caring Network’s Statements of Faith and Principle and Core Values.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, advanced degree or CFRE a plus.
  • 4 years of successful face-to-face major gift solicitations.
  • Proven record of relationship building, customer service skills, and successful gift solicitations demonstrating a history of portfolio growth to meet and exceed fundraising goals.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities, with attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
  • Available to work weekends and evenings. Must be able to work in Cook County,will need to travel to the Glen Ellyn office one day/week after the initial two months plus travel to the area for monthly staff meetings and fundraising events.
  • Reliable transportation to meet with prospects and donors and in the city and near suburbs.
