Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years in a professional fundraising role with a proven ability to solicit and close gifts.
  • Excellent verbal, written (proposals), and presentation skills.
  • Ability to think strategically to plan, solicit, close, and steward gifts.
  • Demonstrated ability to build substantive relationships with prospects and donors.
  • Experience with Board members and volunteers to raise gifts at various levels.

Responsibilities

  • Drive philanthropic growth through strategic giving programs and manage donor portfolios.
  • Cultivate relationships with senior leadership, physicians, and Board members to identify benefactors.
  • Ensure all financial transactions are processed with PCI DSS security standards.
  • Manage an annual portfolio of 75-100 donors and prospects through qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Represent the Foundation and hospital at community events and expand the donor pipeline.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Development Officer, you will serve as a key ambassador for our hospital's mission, responsible for driving philanthropic growth through the planning and implementation of strategic giving programs. You will be the primary lead for cultivating revenue streams that directly support our hospitals and clinical service lines.Every day you will actively manage a donor portfolio to meet annual fundraising targets while coordinating high-impact stewardship, donor recognition, and signage initiatives. You will build and maintain influential relationships with senior leadership, physicians, and Board members to identify and engage prospective benefactors, ensuring all financial transactions are processed with strict adherence to PCI DSS security standards.To be successful in this role you will possess a proven ability to secure charitable gifts and a talent for building long-term, meaningful relationships. You must be an exceptional communicator who can represent our organization with professionalism and integrity, demonstrating both the strategic mindset to reach financial goals and the meticulous attention to detail required for donor stewardship and data security.Manage an annual portfolio of 75-100 donors and prospects, driving the full cycle of qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.Partner with staff and utilize research to identify new donor leads and expand the organizational pipeline.Build and nurture strong ties with board members, physicians, and staff to identify potential benefactors and secure major gifts.Maintain consistent, high-touch communication with donors and prospects through in-person meetings, digital outreach, and networking.Maintain operational expertise in Blackbaud CRM to accurately track prospect plans, activity, and engagement data.Represent the Foundation and hospital at community events and functions, including those occurring outside of standard business hours.

Job Requirements
Required
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a professional fundraising role with a demonstrated ability to solicit and close gifts
  • Excellent verbal, written (proposals), and presentation skills
  • Ability to think strategically to plan, solicit, close, and steward gifts at various levels
  • Ability to develop substantive relationships with prospects and donors
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Board members and volunteers to raise gifts at various levels
  • Ability to work in a team environment to meet annual goals
  • Proficient in office computer technology, including Google applications
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to and form relationships with the hospital family
  • Exhibit a level of personal and professional sophistication and style commensurate with the donor/prospect pool

  • Master's degree
  • Previous experience in healthcare fundraising
