Job summary

Cloudshape is seeking a Development Manager / Senior DevOps Engineer in Washington, DC to lead software teams and deliver complex solutions. You will guide engineering through architecture discussions, code reviews, and lifecycle modernization while maintaining hands-on contribution when needed.

The role requires a US citizenship with an active secret clearance and a strong background in Node.js, TypeScript, Java, and ASP.NET, plus experience guiding Agile processes and project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS/IT/Engineering or related field.
• 12+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience leading software engineering teams.
• Experience with iterative/Agile development processes.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• US Citizenship with active secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of software engineers, including hiring, onboarding, mentoring, coaching, performance reviews, and offboarding.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers in resolving complex technical challenges and removing project blockers.
• Balance strategic leadership with hands-on engineering, stepping in for complex issues as needed.
• Design, develop, troubleshoot, and maintain applications using Node.js, TypeScript, Java, Spring, ASP.NET MVC, Razor/Blazor, PHP, and Drupal.
• Lead modernization of software development lifecycle using iterative practices.
• Establish processes for accountability and measurable progress toward project delivery.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to set priorities, manage risks, and achieve objectives.
• Contribute to design, architecture, code reviews, and best practices.
• Document technical solutions and project decisions.

This person will serve as a senior technical leader responsible for providing software engineering expertise, leading development teams, and delivering complex software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of software engineers, including hiring, onboarding, mentoring, coaching, performance reviews, and offboarding.

• Lead software development lifecycle modernization efforts using iterative development practices.
• Establish processes that promote clarity, accountability, measurable progress, and successful project delivery.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders, technical teams, and leadership to establish priorities, evaluate technical approaches, manage risks, and achieve project objectives.
• Contribute to technical design, architecture, code reviews, and software engineering best practices.
• Maintain effective knowledge management by documenting technical solutions, processes, and project decisions.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 12+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience managing and leading software engineering teams.
• Strong experience with one or more of the following: Node.js, TypeScript, Java, Spring, ASP.NET MVC, Razor/Blazor, PHP, or Drupal.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide effective engineering solutions.
• Experience implementing or modernizing iterative/Agile software development processes.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, technical design, and engineering best practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills
• US Citizen with an active secret security clearance.
