Job description

Emancipet - Development Manager
Reports to: Senior Director of Development
Department: DevCom
Location: Austin, TX
Full time

The Organization

More than a career, it’s a movement. Emancipet, the leading non-profit veterinary care provider in the United States, is on a mission to make veterinary care affordable and accessible for everyone. For the past 25 years, we’ve built a national network of veterinary clinics delivering high-quality, compassionate, low-cost care in underserved communities. Our clinics have the power to transform communities into places where no one has to forego veterinary care for their pets because the cost is out of reach.

The Department

The Development and Communications ("DevCom") team brings together fundraising, marketing, communications, and outreach functions to advance our mission by securing the resources needed to make affordable veterinary care accessible to all. Through a diversified fundraising strategy that includes support from individual donors, corporate partners, institutional funders, workplace giving programs, and annual fund campaigns, the Development team drives the organization’s revenue goals and long-term sustainability. The Communications team strengthens our brand, raises awareness of our impact, and works to expand both donor engagement and client reach. Meanwhile, the Outreach team builds and maintains relationships with local council members, community partners, and regional stakeholders, leads grassroots engagement efforts, and supports our volunteer program.

The Opportunity

Emancipet is seeking a collaborative, organized, and relationship-focused Development Manager to support the organization’s growing fundraising and donor engagement efforts. Working closely with the Senior Director of Development, the Development Manager will play an important role across multiple areas of the development program, including donor stewardship, mid-level and recurring giving, special events, donor communications, and development operations. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys building relationships, managing multiple projects, and helping turn great ideas into action. The Development Manager will have the opportunity to own key areas of Emancipet’s fundraising program while also providing hands‑on support to the Senior Director of Development and broader Development team.

Key Responsibilities
Donor Engagement & Stewardship
  • ? Support the Senior Director of Development in the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual, corporate, and community donors.
  • ? Help manage ongoing donor stewardship, including thank-you communications, donor updates, recognition, and other meaningful touchpoints throughout the year.
  • ? Coordinate donor meetings, tours, events, and follow‑up activities.
  • ? Assist with donor communications, proposals, presentations, and other fundraising materials.
  • ? Help identify opportunities to deepen relationships with current supporters and move donors toward increased engagement and giving.
Mid‑Level & Recurring Giving
  • ? Help build and manage a growing mid‑level donor portfolio, developing strategies to strengthen relationships and increase donor retention and giving.
  • ? Develop meaningful engagement and stewardship strategies for Emancipet’s recurring donors.
  • ? Help grow and steward Emancipet’s Board of Friends, creating opportunities for members to become more deeply connected to Emancipet’s mission.
  • ? Track donor engagement and identify opportunities for donors to move into major giving or other leadership‑level support.
Events & Community Engagement
  • ? Assist with the planning and execution of Emancipet’s annual fundraising events, including EmanciPARTY, donor gatherings, cultivation events, and other special events.
  • ? Help support and coordinate event committees, including meeting preparation, committee communications, tracking outreach and assignments, and providing ongoing follow‑up and support to committee members.
  • ? Support non‑fundraising events such as clinic openings, community events, donor tours, volunteer opportunities, and stewardship gatherings.
  • ? Help coordinate event logistics, guest lists, invitations, sponsorship fulfillment, auction needs, vendors, and follow‑up.
  • ? Work collaboratively across departments to ensure events provide an engaging and mission‑focused experience for donors and guests.
Development Operations & Database Management
  • ? Maintain accurate and timely donor information, interactions, moves, and stewardship activities within Emancipet’s donor database.
  • ? Support gift tracking, donor acknowledgments, reporting, and portfolio management.
  • ? Help ensure donor follow‑up and stewardship commitments are completed consistently and on time.
  • ? Assist the Senior Director with prospect research, meeting preparation, donor lists, reports, and other development needs.
  • ? Support overall Development team projects and priorities as needed.
