Job summary

Blackjack Natural Resources seeks a Development Geologist to support development planning and long-term asset growth in Oklahoma City. You will lead geologic interpretation, collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Land, and Executives, and own subsurface development across Blackjack’s assets.

Responsibilities include planning, mapping, risk assessment, and geosteering support during drilling, plus post-drill evaluations to refine development plans.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in geology, geoscience, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in development, operations, or subsurface geology within oil and gas.
• Experience with well planning, landing-zone selection, and geosteering of horizontal wells.
• Strong communication and ability to work across disciplines in a team.

Responsibilities

• Plan and optimize horizontal development within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Build and maintain detailed structural and stratigraphic interpretations using diverse datasets.
• Generate maps, cross sections, correlations, type logs, and geological models.
• Identify geologic risks such as faulting, structural complexity, and reservoir variability.
• Collaborate with drilling and engineering to develop well plans and landing targets.
• Provide geological prognoses and pre-drill documentation; support during drilling and geosteering.
