Job summary

Onto Innovation is seeking a Development Engineer 1 in Wilmington, MA to design and document mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies. You will create 2D drawings and 3D CAD models, apply GD&T, and support ECOs and product releases.

The role requires an associate degree in mechanical/electro-mechanical engineering and 2–5 years of relevant experience, plus proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD).

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Mechanical engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 2-5 years of experience in mechanical design, drafting, product development, or engineering support roles.
• Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD.
• Experience creating engineering drawings and maintaining BOMs.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, mechanical assemblies, and engineering documentation.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain 2D drawings and 3D CAD models for mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Generate detailed manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, and installation documentation.
• Apply GD&T principles and engineering drawing standards.
• Support design modifications, product improvements, and ECO implementation.
• Coordinate engineering documentation required for product releases.
• Source mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical components for prototype and production builds.
• Generate purchase requisitions and support procurement processes.
• Maintain BOMs, part numbers, and engineering records.
• Support ECOs and document release processes.
• Ensure documentation is maintained in PLM/PDM systems.
