Job summary

Cleveland Play House is seeking a Director of Development to lead fundraising strategy and donor engagement in Cleveland, OH. This role reports to the Managing Director and will cultivate relationships with donors, foundations, corporations, and volunteers to increase contributed revenue and philanthropic impact.

The position requires a minimum of five years in fundraising, success with six- and seven-figure gifts, and the ability to work evenings and weekends for donor events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of five years of fundraising experience.
• Proven success securing six- and seven-figure major gifts.
• Experience developing fundraising strategies with measurable results.
• Strong donor cultivation and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends for donor events.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive annual and multi-year fundraising strategies.
• Set contributed revenue goals with the Managing Director and Finance team.
• Grow major gifts, institutional support, sponsorships, and annual giving.
• Provide revenue forecasting and fundraising analysis.
• Manage a portfolio of approximately 75–100 donor prospects.
• Supervise development staff and mentor team members.
