Wolf Haven is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has worked for wolf conservation since 1982 under the mission “to conserve and protect wolves and their habitat.” Accredited by both the American Sanctuary Association (ASA) and the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS), Wolf Haven has rescued and provided a lifetime home to over 300 animals at our locations in Tenino, Washington and Bridger, Montana. GFAS maintains the highest standards for sanctuaries in the world, and thus Wolf Haven’s wolves receive exceptional care, food, enrichment, and progressive medical treatment.

Wolf Haven is a clear and persistent voice for wolf conservation and coexistence in the wild, and advocates for sustainable solutions that not only protect wolves but also minimize wolf-human conflicts and dangers to livestock. Our conservation efforts extend to the 82 acres of pristine Mima Mound prairie, wetlands, and woodlands at our Washington sanctuary, as we work to preserve and restore native plants, butterflies, birds, and mammals to the prairie.

Because of our staff’s experience, and our longevity as a wolf sanctuary, Wolf Haven has come to be regarded as a leader in humane wolf handling and management. Our education programs about wolves, ecosystems, and the value of all wildlife reach thousands of people each year through guided sanctuary visits as well as online, onsite, and offsite courses and presentations. All of Wolf Haven’s curriculum incorporates STEM, STEAM, and Next Generation Science Standards principles. Wolf Haven also hosts an annual week-long intensive Wildlife Handling and Chemical Immobilization course for wildlife professionals.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Wolf Haven International’s next Development Director will create and execute the organization’s development strategy to meet its financial goals. Under the guidance of the Executive Director, the Development Director designs, implements, and evaluates development programs and public relations for Wolf Haven’s diverse audiences and partners. This includes board members, current and prospective donors, corporations, granting organizations, foundations, and public groups across the west, particularly in Washington and Montana.

The Development Director provides leadership on all fundraising initiatives including major gifts, planned giving, donor cultivation, and special events, while promoting Wolf Haven’s humane ethics as a GFAS-accredited sanctuary. This work is critical to Wolf Haven’s mission and will help the organization become more diverse, inclusive, and equitable.
