Job summary

The American Heart Association, Inc. in Connecticut seeks a Development Coordinator-Temporary to support School Fundraising for the Kids Heart Challenge. This remote, 25-hour per week role begins Nov 30, 2026 and ends May 2027 (approx. 16 weeks).

You will perform data entry, support fundraising teams, and liaise with the RVP and Development Directors to achieve school engagement goals. A laptop is provided for remote work.

Qualifications

  • At least three years’ experience in administrative work, project coordination, and/or event management systems with strong attention to detail.
  • High school Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in event planning, organizing, consultation, and event management preferred. Proficient in using web conferencing software (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Event.Gives etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Must have intermediate skills in PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. Advanced knowledge and skill with these programs is preferred. These skills are subject to testing.
  • Ability to objectively evaluate, make effective decisions, and develop alternative solutions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and interact with all levels of American Heart Association staff, volunteers, and the public. This includes the ability and willingness to build and cultivate relationships within and outside the American Heart Association.
  • Ability to be respectful, self-motivated, resourceful, detailed, and considerate.
  • A willingness to work in an atmosphere that requires flexibility and change. Validated ability to respond quickly to changing ideas, responsibilities, expectations, strategies, and other processes at work.
  • Knowledge of and skill in report preparation, proofreading, and attention to detail.
  • Must pass a background check and must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

  • Meeting regularly with directors and volunteers to maintain open lines of communication to ensure objectives are being achieved.
  • Maintaining a high level of service by responding to customer inquiries both internally and externally in a knowledgeable and timely manner.
  • Performing other duties as required to support Directors/Sr. Directors, Vice Presidents, and Senior Vice Presidents.
  • Preparing presentations, correspondence, and documentation in a timely manner, including meeting minutes.
  • Working independently and within a team on special nonrecurring and ongoing projects.
  • Data is central to the organization's success. This position has the meaningful responsibility of entering, maintaining, and reporting on critical data, including donor information, donor payments, events, and prospect details.

The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for aDevelopment Coordinator-Temporary.This is a remote, temporary position in the Northeast, currently posted in Connecticut. This individual will be responsible for supporting our School Fundraising programs for our Kids Heart Challenge campaign. There will be data entry, interaction with the fundraising team, and work with some schools. You will support the RVP and Development Directors and achieve the desired school engagement results. Work primarily includes behind-the-scenes data support, emails, and phone calls. The Association will provide a laptop computer with access to company software.

  • Five hours per day, five days per week - morning hours ideal, but flexibility is crucial.
  • Non-exempt hourly position with a 25-hour work week - early morning hours preferred.
  • This position will begin on November 30, 2026, with an end date in May 2027 (for a duration of approximately 16 weeks).
  • This is a home-office-based position.

Process, Monitor, and Report on Data

Data is central to the organization's success. This position has the meaningful responsibility of entering, maintaining, and reporting on critical data, including donor information, donor payments, events, and prospect details.

  • Experience in general data entry or equivalent in Association data management systems such as Microsoft Dynamics or Luminate is required.
  • Processing all related data, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Supervising data for completeness and accuracy. Correcting irregularities as needed.
  • Generating reports as needed.
  • Occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
