Job summary

Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida seeks a Development & Communications Associate to elevate visibility, engage communities, and advance fundraising and advocacy initiatives. The role supports day-to-day marketing, communications, branding, and digital outreach across multiple channels.

The ideal candidate is a creative, detail-oriented, data-driven communicator passionate about storytelling, social impact, and CCLA’s mission. Bachelor’s degree and 1–3 years nonprofit experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning, promoting, and documenting events, including educational workshops and fundraising events.
  • Produce campaign collateral for Giving Tuesday, year-end appeals, and special initiatives.
  • Support marketing efforts for fundraising campaigns and donor outreach.
  • Manage communications across digital platforms, newsletters, and website updates.
  • Capture photos and videos for marketing use and maintain media lists and archives.
  • Collaborate with Development, Program, and Executive teams to ensure cohesive messaging.

Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida, Inc. (CCLA) established in 2003 is a Legal Services Corporation (LSC) funded, non-profit organization. CCLA provides free civil legal services to low-income and otherwise eligible residents of Broward County and is located in Plantation, Florida, a suburb of Fort Lauderdale. Our mission is to provide equal justice to underserved communities through quality and innovative free civil legal aid. CCLA provides legal advocacy for individuals in our community, helping thousands of economically disadvantaged residents to gain greater access to justice and much-needed legal assistance to remove barriers to a healthy and stable life.

CCLA provides legal assistance in the areas of Family Law & Victims of Crime, Economic Advocacy & Community Health (public benefits), and Senior Law for people age 60 and older. At CCLA, we provide quality civil legal representation and equal access to justice, regardless of their income. CCLA’s vision is a community where everyone has the legal resources to thrive.

CCLA is currently seeking a hardworking, compassionate Development & Communications Associate to elevate CCLA’s visibility, strengthening community engagement, and advancing fundraising and advocacy initiatives. This position supports day-to-day marketing, communications, and branding efforts across digital platforms, print materials, videos, and community outreach. The ideal candidate is a creative, detail-oriented, data-driven communicator who is passionate about storytelling, social impact, and CCLA’s mission.

Specific Position Duties
Marketing & Communications
  • Design engaging graphics and videos for social media, email campaigns, and outreach materials (Canva or similar tools).
  • Develop, draft, edit, upload, and post content and videos for newsletters, social media platforms, website updates, press releases, and promotional materials.
  • Ensure brand and style guides are used consistently across the organization to maintain a consistent brand voice that reflects CCLA’s mission and values.
  • Assist with digital advertising campaigns and SEO optimization.
  • Connect message, content and channel to deliver to the right audiences and measure the impact of the work through development and implementation of a KPI framework
Social Media Management
  • Manage CCLA’s social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, Google Business Profile, and LinkTree).
  • Create and schedule posts, track engagement, and analyze performance metrics.
  • Ensure timely responses and consistent community interaction.
Development Support
  • Support marketing efforts for fundraising campaigns, events, and donor outreach.
  • Assist in producing campaign collateral for Giving Tuesday, year-end appeals, and special initiatives.
Events & Outreach
  • Assist with planning, promoting, and documenting CCLA events, including educational workshops, fundraising events, and community outreach activities.
  • Capture photos and videos for marketing use.
  • Administrative & Cross-Team Collaboration
  • Work closely with the Development, Program, and Executive teams to ensure cohesive messaging.
  • Maintain media lists, contact databases, and marketing archives.
  • Support outreach communications including email marketing (ex. Constant Contact) and social media (ex. Hootsuite).
  • Participating in continuous professional development and trainings.
  • Maintain CCLA’s nonpartisan identity and adhere to all applicable rules, regulations, and guidance from funders in communications.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1-3 years of experience in marketing, communications, or nonprofit outreach preferred.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Proficiency with social media platforms and content creation tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Working knowledge of email marketing tools and website CMS platforms (e.g., Constant Contact, WordPress, Hootsuite, Photoshop Illustrator, video editing).
  • Ability to perform duties with the highest regard for confidentiality, integrity, and respect.
