Job summary

Counseling4Kids is seeking a Development Associate to support growth and engagement strategies in the South Bay. The role assists with fundraising, distributes content across digital media channels, plans events, and maintains volunteer relationships to expand the agency's audience and strengthen community ties.

You will work under the Development Director, coordinating with teams and contributing to program communications and outreach efforts across service areas 2 & 8.

Qualifications

  • Superior communication both verbally and written and able to listen and write clearly and analytically.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, able to relate one‑on‑one and in groups with confidence, empathy and poise.
  • Superb Time Management and Organizational Skills, with an ability to prioritize, work well under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing Department and/or Administrative Level schedules.
  • High level of comfort with the internet and technology, especially social media
  • Must have working experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, InDesign.
  • Experience in taking and editing photos and videos with iPhone/iPad.
  • Event planning and hospitality.
  • Experience in branding, typography, and multimedia projects is highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Uphold the mission and core values of Counseling4Kids.
  • Update and maintain the grant, outreach, and social media calendars.
  • Maintain accurate records within donor and volunteer databases, SharePoint sites, workflows, and project management systems.
  • Maintain and organize outreach and marketing supplies.
  • Attend internal and external meetings documenting highlights, deliverables, agreements, opportunities, and next steps.
  • Manage and execute direct mail campaigns.
  • Design, edit, and format materials such as marketing collateral, presentations, banners, emails, signage, infographics, branded items, and more per the agency's direction.
  • Ability to create digital assets within brand style/tone guidelines and incorporate feedback into revised work.
  • Source stock images or other photography as needed.
  • Upload and monitor content across social media platforms.
  • Participate in all Fundraising Events and Campaigns, including event planning, coordination of logistics, communications, setup of events through teardown.
  • Assists with event sponsorship requests to businesses, corporations, vendors and community-based organizations.
  • Conduct research related to current projects and upcoming events.
  • Collaborate with the team to highlight recent programs, partnerships, and events.
  • Interact with various external contacts and volunteers on behalf of the Development Department.

About the Role:

This is for a contracted employee role, with an expected duration of six (months). At the end of the contracted period of employment, job performance, attendance, attitude and overall interest in the job will be assessed in a performance evaluation to determine if an offer of full‑time at will employment will be made, if the contract period will be extended, or if the contract will be ended without further offer of employment.


JOB SUMMARY:

The Development Associate works under the Development Director's supervision and is responsible for supporting C4K's growth and engagement strategies in the South Bay. This versatile position involves assisting with fundraising initiatives, distributing, and updating content across digital media channels, planning, and executing events, and maintaining relationships with volunteers. The Development Associate plays a critical role in expanding C4K's audience and strengthening community relationships through the agency’s service areas (2 & 8).


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Job Duties:

  • Maintain accurate records within donor and volunteer databases, SharePoint sites, workflows, and project management systems.

  • Maintain and organize outreach and marketing supplies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Minimum of an A.A./A.S. degree in Communication, Marketing or related to Social Services industry.

  • 2 years of experience working/volunteering for a non-profit organization.

  • Must be able to communicate clearly; both verbally and in writing.

  • Understanding of branding principles and the ability to apply brand standards consistently across various forms of communication and design.

  • Comfort with technology and adaptability to new digital tools and platforms that enhance communication and development efforts.
