Job summary

There With Care in Denver is seeking a Development Associate to join our fundraising team and help connect donors to a meaningful mission. You will manage a donor portfolio, support cultivation strategies, and contribute to stewardship efforts with personal outreach and timely communications.

Working with the Senior Director of Development, you will build relationships, gather stories, and record activities in Salesforce, ensuring accurate donor records and coordinated engagement across programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum of four years of experience in fundraising, sales, customer relationship management, nonprofit development, higher education advancement, or another relationship-based profession.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of approximately 75-100 donors and prospects, focusing on building relationships, donor retention, and stewardship.
• Support donor cultivation through phone calls, virtual meetings, occasional donor visits, personalized emails, handwritten notes, and stewardship activities.
• Assist the Senior Director of Development with donor qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
• Conduct prospect research and identify opportunities to deepen donor engagement.
• Prepare donor correspondence, acknowledgement letters, briefing materials, stewardship reports, and other fundraising communications.

This position helps build lasting relationships with donors through personalized stewardship, thoughtful communication, and authentic engagement. Working in partnership with the Senior Director of Development, the Development Associate manages a portfolio of donors, supports fundraising initiatives, and helps grow a community of supporters who make it possible for families facing a child's critical illness to receive compassionate care when they need it most.

We have served over 10,000 families referred by medical agencies at our locations in Colorado and the Bay Area of California. Founded in Colorado in 2005, There With Care's mission is to provide a wide range of meaningful and fundamental services for families and children during the critical phase of a medical crisis. We serve families referred by hospital social workers and build support around them through a community of individuals, volunteers, services, and businesses, who ease their burden of life's day-to-day obligations with compassion and care. Our current service locations are Colorado and the Bay Area of California.

The Important Work You'll Do

• Manage a portfolio of approximately 75-100 donors and prospects, focusing on building relationships, donor retention, and stewardship.
• Support donor cultivation through phone calls, virtual meetings, occasional donor visits, personalized emails, handwritten notes, and stewardship activities.
• Assist the Senior Director of Development with donor qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
• Conduct prospect research and identify opportunities to deepen donor engagement.
• Prepare donor correspondence, acknowledgement letters, briefing materials, stewardship reports, and other fundraising communications.
• Maintain accurate donor records, contact reports, and moves management activities in Salesforce.
• Coordinate stewardship activities, including thank-you calls, impact reporting, donor recognition, and special engagement opportunities.
• Collaborate with program staff to gather stories and impact information that connect donors to There With Care's mission.
• Represent There With Care at community events, volunteer opportunities, and donor gatherings.
• Contribute ideas for donor communications, annual campaigns, and stewardship initiatives.
• Respond to donor inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
• Perform other duties that support the Development Department and organizational fundraising goals.
