Description
SUMMARY: The Development Associate role includes administrative, systematic, and creative support of all areas of the A Safe Haven Development/Fundraising team. The Associate will execute elements of the annual fundraising and communications plans and interact with donors on-site and at events. The work involves processing gifts, managing the donor database system, assisting with donor cultivation and stewardship, and providing support for organizational events. The Associate will help us reach our fundraising goals and support a growing community of donors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Manage gift analysis, entry procedure, and prompt receipt/acknowledgment to donors
- Maintain donor database, including updating records, entering gifts, running reports, and tracking stewardship and cultivation activities
- Special events planning, support, and logistics
- Assist in creating, producing, and sending mailings and email marketing campaigns
- Assist with stewardship management, including proactive and reactive prospect research
- Help to identify prospective major donors through research and analytics
- Point of contact for Development & Finance monthly reconciliation
- Work with Volunteer & In-kind Donation Coordinator to maintain, grow and cultivate partnerships with corporate donors
- Work with Marketing and Communications to develop cohesive communications plans and materials for development-related initiatives.
- Assist with thank you and appeal letters and communications on behalf of Board Members who request assistance
- General Development team office support
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Other skills required:
- A minimum of one year of work experience in nonprofit management, donor management, development, marketing, public relations, or similar work required; ideally at a non-profit organization.
- Database or donor management experience, including experience working with and interpreting large data sets to make actionable insights.
- Desired, but not required: experience with non-profit fundraising and engaging with and managing donor relationships.
- System experience working with Salesforce desired, but not required.
- A strong commitment to customer service, proven track record of problem solving, and the ability to manage multiple projects and relationships simultaneously.
- Strong verbal and writing skills, high attention to detail and follow-up, and excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated skill and knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn Microsoft Suite, as well as Harness and Salesforce.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills with external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Must exhibit a passion for ending homelessness.
- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn and contribute on a small but mighty team.
