Overview
The Development & Outreach (D&O) Manager is a vital member of Life’sWork’s management team, responsible for leading fundraising, outreach, and community engagement initiatives. The role requires deep knowledge of Life’sWork’s services, a genuine passion for the mission, and a commitment to organizational success.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the Board and Executive Director to identify and cultivate potential donors, sponsors, and partners.
- Collaborate with leadership to manage internal and external communication efforts.
- Support staff engagement and appreciation initiatives.
- Develop short‑ and long‑term plans for philanthropic giving, community outreach, and awareness.
- Research and advise on philanthropic funding sources and trends to position Life’sWork ahead of major changes.
- Supervise contract providers and serve as liaison for grant‑writing efforts.
- Design and implement awareness, outreach, and community engagement programs to increase the organization’s profile.
- Oversee community outreach activities, including events, meetings, presentations, conferences, education sessions, and vendor tables.
- Coordinate internal and external events (e.g., Gala, fundraising events).
- Maintain the CRM database (Bloomerang or similar), process donations, reconcile finances, and recommend data‑driven improvements.
- Manage in‑kind donations and partnerships, including acknowledgement and tracking procedures.
- Set brand guidelines and ensure consistent branding across the organization.
- Lead branding, marketing, media, and public relations initiatives, including the agency website and social media pages.
- Oversee volunteer activities and onboard volunteers in collaboration with Human Resources.

General Assignments
- Record time and attendance via HRIS and time‑keeping system.
- Attend meetings and training as required.
- Cover both Pittsburgh and Monessen locations of Life’sWork.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain client confidentiality and comply with HIPAA laws and internal policies.
Education & Qualifications
- Organized self‑starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while building strong internal and external relationships.
- Bachelor’s degree with 2–4 years of related experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, a computer/laptop, tablet, and cell phone.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (preferred).
- Experience with CRM systems (preferred).
- Experience with Canva (preferred).
Working Conditions
- Some travel and occasional evening or weekend hours may be required.
- Office setting may require long periods of sitting.
- Will occasionally lift and carry 10–15 pounds.
