Job summary

AmeriCorps VISTA is seeking a Development and Marketing Specialist VISTA to advance alumni engagement for Beacon Hill Preparatory Institute. You will help build a sustainable system, collect success stories, and collaborate with marketing on outreach materials to highlight program impact.

The position is full-time, in Texas, starting 10/19/2026 through 10/18/2027, with a living allowance and relocation support. Strong communications and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Experience coordinating community programs or volunteers is a plus.
• Knowledge of education systems or tutoring programs.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data tracking tools.

Responsibilities

• Establish an alumni engagement system using surveys to build a volunteer database.
• Document best practices for collecting and maintaining contact information.
• Create outreach materials for training Beacon Hill staff.
• Collaborate with marketing to craft monthly alumni spotlight stories.
• Collect success stories, testimonials, and impact narratives.
• Gather baseline data on educational attainment, college enrollment, and community involvement.

Job description

This project will help disrupt poverty by researching and developing the necessary processes and materials to identify, engage, and mobilize former scholars and families to measure the organization’s impact. This project will allow the organization to launch a comprehensive alumni engagement initiative that tracks former participants, measures educational success, and creates a pathway for alumni to become mentors, ambassadors, volunteers, and community leaders, while strengthening community connections and expanding the reach of Beacon Hill Preparatory Institute. The community capacity-building work will help Beacon Hill Preparatory Institute in its mission of helping students navigate learning so they believe “I can” today and lead tomorrow. Beacon Hill Preparatory Institute provides tutoring to students in grades PK4 – 12th through a structured, supplemental, and focused learning environment.

Member Duties:

• The VISTA volunteer will establish the foundation for a sustainable alumni engagement system by using existing parent and student surveys to create an alumni database.
• Develop and document best practices and systems for collecting, organizing, and maintaining alumni contact information.
• Develop the materials needed to conduct necessary outreach for training Beacon Hill staff.
• Collaborate with the marketing team to create monthly alumni spotlight stories for social media, newsletters, annual reports, and fundraising materials.
• Collect success stories, testimonials, photos, videos, and impact narratives from former scholars and families to document the processes and procedures.
• Establish baseline data on educational attainment, career pathways, college enrollment, workforce participation, and community involvement among alumni to help in telling the story of Beacon Hill’s impact on communities.
