We are partnering with our San Francisco, CA non-profit client to recruit a Development and Fundraising Specialist to join their team on a contract-to-hire basis, primarily onsite at their office on the southern side of SF. In this role, you will be responsible for driving new opportunity for funding and growth for the organization, primarily focused on individual giving, state and local grants and identifying major gifts opportunities. This organization is not dependent on federal funds, but the impacts of federal funding changes have opened additional opportunity to conduct community outreach and invest in local development opportunities. You will be the subject-matter expert for donor outreach and communications, crafting campaigns and consistent communications to current and prospective donors and community members. To be a fit, you should bring 2+ years of development and fundraising experience in a non-profit, foundation or similar organization. Experience with donor management software like Raiser's Edge or similar is required, along with strong communication and project management skills.

This is an onsite role in their San Francisco office five days a week, close to the water with FREE, private parking. This is a contract-to-hire position and will start ASAP. The goal is to spend a few months learning their organization and making an immediate impact, and to ultimately covert to an FTE. This team values work/life balance, and you will be a full-time, 40 hour a week contractor. Pay for this role ranges from $36 to $41 an hour based on relevant experience. You will:

  • Join the team as a subject-matter expert on donor development and fundraising, with a focus on individual giving campaigns but with opportunity to identify corporate, government and major gift opportunities
  • Serve a critical role in expanding the organization's donor base, building out prospective donor information
  • Write, edit, optimize and deploy digital fundraising campaigns and communications about fundraising and community events with the goal of driving new donors and relationships
  • Support the team in grants processes, primarily in the state, local and private sectors
  • Aid the team in additional departmental duties, including event planning and logistics, community engagement, brand awareness building and the like

Your experience should include:

  • 2+ years of development, fundraising or similar experience identifying funding opportunities for non-profits, foundations, etc.
  • Excellent written communications skills with experience deploying email and other digital fundraising campaigns
  • Donor database software proficiency (Raiser's Edge or similar); Experience in email marketing, social media management and similar, highly preferred
  • Passion for mission-driven, community-oriented work - this team is deeply integrated into the SF community
