Now Hiring: Development and Communications Manager

Location: Remote, with occasional travel, with a preference for someone residing within California. Some evening and weekend meetings may be required.

Position: Full time

Salary: $75,000 -$80,000 depending on experience

Reports to: Executive Director

Timeline: Rolling deadline with preference for March 20, 2026. Position open until filled.

About the role
Position Summary

The Development and Communications Manager will facilitate the growth of our fundraising program, with a particular focus on researching, cultivating and securing foundation grants.Additionally, they will be responsible for general organizational communications, including social media, marketing collateral, newsletters, website and publications. The ideal candidate is a detail oriented, digitally-savvy, go-getter. The Development and Communications Manager position requires strong digital, relationship management, and planning skills.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Fundraising Research and Cultivation and Grant-Writing

  • Draft, design, target and deliver regular fundraising communications, including solicitations, grant proposals and reports, donor updates and more.
  • Coordinate the identification of foundation prospects and major donor leads, conduct research, and set up meetings with prospective supporters.
  • Develop, write and submit proposals, reports and updates with the appropriate staff and manage the foundation grant calendar to track deadlines.

Organization-wide Digital Communications and Marketing

  • Collect and develop content for all digital communications (website, social media, newsletters)
  • Develop, maintain and update website, posting timely updates to all content
  • Maintain and update all social media channels
  • Write content for various organizational and marketing materials, e.g. annual impact reports, program brochures, postcards, flyers, posters, event invitations, press releases, etc.
  • Create and manage email communications and marketing campaigns
  • Collect analytics and share recommendations to increase the organization’s profile nationally through the use of social media
Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent education / work experience.
  • A minimum of three years of professional experience in nonprofit fundraising.
  • Additional professional experience in digital media or communications in a non-profit or social-good setting is a plus.
  • Proficient in Wordpress, Canva, Microsoft 365, Constant Contact, and Google Workspace.
  • Strong oral and written communications, including copy editing and proofreading abilities and an ability to convey complex ideas in accessible language to a variety of audiences in a clear, direct and lively style
  • Highly organized, comfortable toggling between different activities, and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and work both independently and in a team in a collaborative environment.
  • Diplomatic and professional approach to problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and competency around diversity, equity, and inclusion.
