Job summary

Greystar is seeking a Development Accountant to manage GAAP financial accounting, budgeting, and reporting for a portfolio of development and construction projects. The role sits in Charleston, SC, supporting a regionally focused accounting team and collaborating with construction and development directors.

You will handle cost accounting, project abstracts, and cash management while coordinating with internal teams and external investors.

Qualifications

• GAAP-based financial accounting and reporting.
• Cost accounting and budget management for development and construction projects.
• Understanding of project contracts, JV and lender requirements.
• Professional communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Cash management including reconciliations and transfers.
• Collaboration across departments such as Finance, Asset Management, Development and Construction.
• Support for annual audits and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements and journal entries in the general ledger.
• Maintain development and construction budgets and perform forecasting.
• Develop general understanding of project agreements and investment materials.
• Communicate with investors, lenders and other stakeholders about financial results.
• Manage monthly bank reconciliations, wire transfers, and payments to vendors.
• Coordinate with Accounts Payable, Finance, Asset Management, Development and Construction on cross-functional tasks.
• Act as liaison to auditors during annual audits.
