Job summary

Pilot Company is seeking a technical contributor in the Energy Technology space to design, develop, and support trading, risk management, and pricing platforms across on-prem and cloud environments.

You will collaborate with senior developers to deliver reliable solutions, participate in production support, and help modernize with cloud adoption and DevOps practices. Fluency in English and strong communication are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or demonstrated technical proficiency in relevant fields.
  • 1+ years of experience developing, supporting, or integrating enterprise applications.
  • 1+ years of experience supporting commodity/energy trading, retail pricing, or related commercial applications.
  • 1+ years of experience contributing to technical projects, delivery priorities, or production support activities.
  • Basic ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and designs.
  • Foundational understanding of incident/change/release management and production support practices.
  • Foundational proficiency in one or more development technologies such as .NET/C#, Java, Angular, SQL, APIs.
  • Foundational proficiency with relational databases, preferably Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Foundational proficiency with AWS, Terraform, Jenkins, and automation tools.
  • Foundational understanding of Agile/Scrum delivery practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, deploy, and support low-complexity enhancements for trading, risk management, credit, and retail pricing applications.
  • Serve as a technical contributor on low-complexity projects and defined workstreams.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and implementations within scope.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and other tech teams to deliver reliable solutions.
  • Perform production support activities including troubleshooting and deployments.
  • Contribute to modernization efforts including cloud adoption and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Follow development standards, documentation, and secure coding practices.
  • Support vendor-delivered solutions with long-term production support within scope.

Job Description

The purpose of this job is to serve as a technical contributor within the Energy Technology space, designing, developing, supporting, and enhancing commodity trading and risk management platforms as well as retail pricing applications operating in both on-premise and cloud implementations. This role partners closely with senior developers and team members to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure technology solutions that support commercial trading operations.

  • Develop, test, deploy, and support low-complexity enhancements for commercial trading, risk management, credit, and retail pricing applications.
  • Serve as a technical contributor on low-complexity projects and defined workstreams, providing technical analysis, design input, and implementation support.
  • Translate low-complexity business requirements into technical specifications, development tasks, integrations, and design input within assigned scope.
  • Partner with business stakeholders, product owners, scrum masters, functional analysts, infrastructure, security, and other technology teams to deliver reliable solutions within assigned scope.
  • Perform production support activities, including troubleshooting production incidents, participating in deployments, and occasional after-hours support as needed with guidance.
  • Contribute to modernization efforts, including cloud adoption, automation, DevOps processes, CI/CD pipelines, and platform reliability improvements within assigned scope.
  • Follow development standards, reusable patterns, documentation, automated testing, peer reviews, and secure coding practices.
  • Support vendor-delivered solutions by aiding implementation and providing long-term production support within a defined scope.
  • Model behaviors that support the company’s common purpose and ensure guests and team members are supported at the highest level.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related scientific or technical discipline required; or demonstrated technical proficiency may be substituted for education requirements.
  • 1+ years of experience developing, supporting, or integrating enterprise applications.
  • 1+ years of experience supporting commodity/energy trading, retail pricing, or related commercial applications.
  • 1+ years of experience contributing to technical projects, delivery priorities, or production support activities.
  • Basic ability to analyze business processes and translate business needs into technical requirements, designs, and system changes.
  • Basic understanding of incident management, change management, release management, service requests, and production support practices.
  • Foundational proficiency in one or more development technologies such as .NET/C#, Java, AngularJS/Angular, SQL, APIs, or integration frameworks required.
  • Foundational proficiency with relational databases required; Microsoft SQL Server preferred.
  • Foundational proficiency with AWS, Terraform, Jenkins, DB Maestro, ActiveBatch, or similar cloud, source control systems DevOps, release management, and automation tools preferred.
  • Foundational proficiency with Agile/Scrum delivery practices preferred.
  • Foundational understanding of commodities trading, front/middle/back-office processes, and experience supporting business environments requiring rapid context switching and demanding timelines strongly preferred.
  • Foundational proficiency in building, enhancing, integrating, and supporting CTRM/ETRM systems such as RightAngle, Endur, Allegro, or similar platforms strongly preferred.
  • Basic ability to assess system impact across small- and large-scale changes preferred.
  • Basic ability to balance project delivery, production support, technical debt, and operational priorities required.
  • Problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Commitment to secure, reliable, maintainable, and well-documented solutions.
  • Ability to own assigned technical work and drive it to completion with guidance from more senior developers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to set priorities, multitask, meet deadlines, and resolve problems with a high sense of urgency.
  • Ability to share knowledge with peers through documentation, troubleshooting support, and informal guidance.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English required.
