Job summary

JetBlue is seeking a Developer Full Stack to design, build and maintain sophisticated web and mobile applications across frontend and backend. The role involves research, architecture and collaboration with other engineers to deliver scalable solutions that support the business and operations.

You will work with React/NextJS on the frontend and NestJS on the backend, implement unit and end-to-end tests, and ensure deployments align with security and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • 3+ years in a full-stack role with JavaScript-based frontend and backend experience.
  • Experience with RESTful services, JSON, and SOAP.
  • Experience using Git and modern UI frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to design modular, scalable full-stack solutions with responsive design.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, design, code, debug and document web and mobile applications using React/NextJS on the frontend and NestJS on the backend.
  • Understand middleware technologies including MQ and HTTP REST.
  • Create service responses in JSON and XML formats.
  • Write and execute unit tests and end-to-end tests for UI/JavaScript.
  • Collaborate with engineers to guide development and architecture decisions.
  • Analyze specifications and prepare project estimates.
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure quality coding practices.
  • Coordinate deployments with data center and infrastructure teams.
  • Adhere to JetBlue IT and business standards, audit and security requirements.
  • Support omnichannel experiences across kiosks, mobile, and web.

Job description

Position Summary

The Developer Full Stack performs development, testing and documentation of sophisticated web and mobile applications involving both front and backend components. This role involves significant research, analysis and architecture. The Full Stack Developer develops and maintains innovative, scalable solutions which provide value to the business and provides operational support as required.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Develop, design, code, debug and document web and mobile web interface applications in a variety of front‑end software languages (e.g., strong TypeScript/JavaScript and solid skills in React/NextJS) and back‑end software languages (NestJS).
  • Understanding of a wide variety of middleware technologies including MQ, HTTP (REST).
  • Ability to create service responses in multiple formats including JSON, XML.
  • Design, write, and implement unit tests and end‑to‑end tests for UI/JavaScript.
  • Provide input and guidance on development and architecture decisions; collaborate with other engineers.
  • Analyze system specifications and create project estimates.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure high quality and consistent coding practices.
  • Partner with data center operations and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless deployments, proper documentation and support for applications.
  • Ensure that JetBlue IT and business standards and procedures are maintained in accordance with company policies and work practices are in line with all audit, security and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure continued accountability for product and services delivery within assigned business units and across IT.
  • Ensure quality and performance standards are met across omnichannel customer experiences including kiosks, mobile, and web platforms.
  • Partner with other IT Managers to ensure alignment and drive efficiencies.
  • Provide direct or indirect oversight of delivery teams for applicable portfolio initiatives.
  • Take a significant role in leading and coaching direct team and/or indirect crew members to support the engagement, growth and development of succession plan for the IT department.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related discipline; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous related work experience.
  • Three (3) years in a full‑stack role, with experience in coding both JavaScript‑based applications and backend applications, as well as optimizing the communication middleware protocol.
  • Experience with RESTful services, JSON, and SOAP‑based services.
  • Experience using Git.
  • Demonstrated ability to code complex full‑stack designs in a modular, well architected manner; experience with responsive/adaptive design, and efficient middleware communication.
  • Candidates must demonstrate coding skills in a work sample assessment.
  • Available for moderate overnight travel (up to 35%).
  • In possession of valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States.
  • Able to work flexible hours and be available for emergency response on short notice.
  • Must pass a pre‑employment drug test.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located.
  • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
  • One (1) year in React and some experience with AngularJS. Thorough knowledge of business function and thorough knowledge of business operations, objectives and strategies.
  • Previous knowledge with micro service development.
  • Benchmarking experience of services as a whole, from the front to the back‑end technology.
  • Knowledge of omnichannel customer experiences across kiosks, mobile, and web platforms.
  • Exposure to JetBlue's IT disciplines and interdependencies.
  • Exposure to JetBlue's business units and how their needs drive IT strategy.
  • Working on enterprise‑wide budget process.
Crewmember Expectations
  • Regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short notice.
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance.
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft.
  • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun.
  • Promote JetBlue's #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue's Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards.

Compensation
  • The base pay range for this position is between $90,500.00 and $128,600.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue's total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short‑term and long‑term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
