Job summary

Google's XR Team is hiring a senior software engineer to design, build, and scale the XR and AI-enabled developer tooling ecosystem. You will lead architecture and release infrastructure, ship XR software updates to partners and end users, and push AI-powered improvements across the developer workflow.

Ideal candidates have deep experience with AI/ML in software engineering, architecture, and delivering robust tooling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of programming in Python, Java, Go, or C++.
• 5 years developing developer tools, automation frameworks, testing infra, or CI/CD and release systems.
• 3 years of software design, development, and architecture.
• Experience applying AI/ML techniques to software engineering problems.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, deploy, maintain, enhance, and stay abreast of the latest complex software solutions that improve the developer workflow, code quality, and release velocity.
• Lead the technical design and implementation of projects, making key architectural and technical decisions to scale the build and release infrastructure and ship XR software updates to external partners and end users.
• Define and track metrics to measure the impact of tools and process improvements on developer productivity and system health, increasingly leveraging AI/ML.
• Develop and integrate AI-powered features into developer tools to assist with code generation, code review, test generation, bug detection and triaging, and more.
• Collaborate closely with various engineering teams to understand their needs, gather requirements, and drive the adoption of new tools and best practices. Contribute to and lead design reviews, and discussions on system architecture.

Preferred qualifications

• Expertise in Large Language Models (LLMs), and experience with platforms/tools like Gemini or other AI-driven development assistants.
• Expertise in branch and release infrastructure management.
